Chance Me?

I visited Williams College over the summer and fell in love. I currently attend a public school that is seen as one of the more difficult ones in my state. My unweighted GPA is a 3.95, my weighted GPA is 4.45, and my ACT superscore is a 35. My SAT II’s are a 800 on Math 2, a 790 on US History, and a 750 on Chemistry. I’ll have taken nine APs by the end of high school, so my coursework is rigorous. My official class rank is 4th, but my school doesn’t report them. However, there is something called Honor Guard (which I explained on my CA as being the top 4 in the class) that I am a part of. I run track, and have emailed with the Williams coach. They have one of the best D3 track teams and he cannot guarantee me a roster spot, but I still think it could give me a positive push when it comes to admissions. I’m the interim vice president and co-founder of my school’s chapter of the Science National Honor Society, I’m the treasurer of my school’s National Honor Society, I’m a captain of winter and spring track, I play soccer, I’m a member of Girl’s Learn International, Chem Club, and Key Club, I have about 50 hours of community service, and I participate in both Math League and Science League. I believe that my college essay is a strong piece that reflects my voice. So, what are my chances? Thanks for taking the time!

You have a terrific record and would seem to have a strong chance at Williams. The only caution I would give you is that “can’t guarantee you a roster spot” sounds like coach speak for “no support in admissions.” Make sure you factor that in to a decision to apply ED, particularly if you want to play sports and are getting stronger assurances from other coaches. There is another forum on athletic recruiting on CC with a lot of information on this topic.
