Chance me?

Hey so, I have:

3.5 UW
4.0 W
not sure about my SAT, most likely around a 1570 out of 1600.

I’m in one of the most competitive schools in the state, and I wish to major in either biology or psychology.
I have numerous extracurriculars, started nonprofits etc.

What are my chances for Georgia Tech and/or UGA?

I would say a solid chance for UGA. Are you instate for GT/UGA?

yes, I’m instate. Although UGA is fine, I would really rather go to Tech. Is there anything I could do to maximize my chances? @indy101

Ah ok. Since you’re in state, you have a really good chance. The Early admit rate for instate students last year was 45%. Also, how many AP classes have you taken? Have you taken AP Calculus?

@indy101 yes I have taken AP Calculus AB. By the time I graduate I will have taken 12 AP classes.

@indy101 oh and I’m applying regular, that does that change my chances?

I think you would have been set if you applied early. I believe you will still get in but do keep in mind the admit rate for regular is lower than that of early.

@indy101 thing is, my GPA is when calculated with my first semester senior grades. I heard that Tech takes into account the first semester when calculating GPA. My senior coarseload is AP Physics C: Mech/Emag
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
On level government and literature

@indy101 if I manage to get a perfect score on Math SAT and above a 750 on Reading, what are my chances?

Test scores dont really play that much of a crucial role in admissions. If you have a decent score, you’re fine. A 1450+ is fine. Work on essays and supplements; they play a bigger role.

@indy101 oh ok, are subject tests necessary

@indy101 say if my essays are on point, are my chances probable? Tech is my dream school and I really love the breadth of knowledge they provide.

I think you will make it. Don’t worry. Plus, I see you are applying as a Bio/Psych major. These majors are not as competitive as Engineering or Computer Science ones. Subject tests aren’t necessary but they don’t hurt either (obviously if you have a good score). Tech is my dream school too haha.

@indy101 oh ok so Tech admits by major?

No but more people apply as engineering majors/compsci so there is more competition.

@indy101 wait so does me wanting to major in biology/psychology pose an advantage?

I don’t know. I just know Computer Science and BME faced the toughest competition last year.

oh ok. Does Tech consider class rank? @indy101

Nah

@indy101 and do you know for certain if GT takes first semester senior grades for GPA calculation?
