ACT: Composite- 30 (Reading & Writing- 35, Science- 25, Math- 26)
SAT Subject Tests: US History- 770
Weighted GPA: 4.19/4

(I took a total of 8 AP courses in high school, all other classes H or HH)
Senior Year Course Load: AP Spanish 6, AP Lit, AP Gov’t, Calc H, AP Physics B

Subjective:
Extracurriculars-

  1. Diarist/ Regular Contributor at Rookie (10-present)
  2. Treasurer/ President of Film Club, which screens and produces student films. We have a great relationship w/ my town’s well regarded film festival (9-present)
  3. co-founder and President of Women in Comedy club. Our biggest effort is organizing live-readings of old diary entries (talked about the reflective humor of this in a bunch of supplements) (11- present)
  4. Story Editor & Regular Contributor at Crybaby Zine, where I oversee the staff of 10 regularly contributing writers, select/edit written submissions, and contribute original work monthly (10-present)
  5. Class President in 9th grade, and Treasurer in 11th and 12th grade
  6. Camp counselor at an adventure camp for the past two summers
  7. Big Sister mentor at local elementary school (9- present)
  8. Member of school’s competitive Model UN/Congress team since 10th grade, have won a few awards at conferences
  9. Coached middle school girls for 5k with “Girls on Track” program (9, 10)

My activity section and resume also mention volunteering at the 2014 Senate campaign for Cory Booker, the government-oriented small learning community I’ve been part of since 10th grade, managing the boys’ Varsity tennis team since 10th grade, and the EXTENSIVE time I’ve spent babysitting and tutoring all four years of high school (at least 5 hrs/week)

Essays:
Common app- (hopefully) funny and philosophical, about a necklace I have that reads “Someone”, a common auto-correction of my name. I explored
Extra info- Provided details on a surgery that caused me to miss midterms week during Junior year, bringing down two grades to a B and C. Also explained that I took an extra math course over the summer to advance my math track
Why Vassar?- Talked about my experience at October’s Open House, where I learn the educational principles of Vassar aligned with my deepest personal convictions/Godless self-determined religion. I likened the College Center to a chapel and the head of Admissions to a preacher… (was this blasphemous?? Dare I be so sinful!!!)
Supplement- Wrote about getting my position at Rookie through networking for Crybaby: makes me look like an ambitious and trendy career woman
Your Space- submitted an award winning film I’d acted in/produced with film club. Witty, looks professionally shot, and super heartwarming. Plot details a young woman who falls in love with Jesus (more blasphemy), but ends up finding herself and becoming comfortable in her own skin. Hoping it makes admissions officers fall in love with me

Recommendations:
Teacher Recommendation- From 2 English teachers in my small learning community. My mom works at my school, so I know them very well. Both told me they wanted to highlight my writing and English skills, hunger for knowledge, proneness to speak out, and ability to liven classroom environments
Counselor Rec- Didn’t read it, hopefully she brought up aforementioned junior year health scare and my willingness to enroll in hard classes
Additional Rec- From a prominent community member who I have a close personal relationship with, can attest to my involvement with filmmaking/film festival, small learning community, but most importantly, my character <3

Other:
Applied for Financial Aid?- Yep lol
Intended Major (undecided is fine)- English, Film
State (if domestic applicant)- NJ
School Type- Public
Ethnicity- African American/White
Gender- Female
Income Bracket- <120,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.)- Dad only has an associate degree??

what’s your uw

my school doesn’t report them

You seem to have a pretty good chance! Your act score seems fine and you have really interesting, uncommon extracurriculars which should help. Good luck!

Would you be able to chance me back?

Yeah I think you should be fairly confident! Your ECs seem interesting and that common app essay looks intriguing. Good luck! Would you be able to chance me back? http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1946284-help-i-m-desperate-chance-me-for-my-regular-decision-schools-please.html

i know it’s too late, but i’d honestly apply to harder schools if i were you. your ecs + essays are unique, so i’d honestly be shocked if you didn’t get accepted.
