@Preston, fortunately decisions are coming out very soon so you won’t have to wait much longer. Your stats are low for CSE so most likely out of reach. CLA is also a reach but much less so - you’ve got a shot at it. Fingers crossed for you! Definitely post when you hear back!

@wallowa - for the U, it’s kind of “wait and see” at this point - kind of sounds like you did what you needed to do by turning in your recent grades. Unfortunately your ACT is way too low for CSE, which has been getting significantly more competitive every year. This year it looks like CLA is more competitive than usual and that’s probably due to the “trickle down” from the more selective colleges (i.e. more were accepted at their second choice CLA than previous years) and the new, earlier admission date of 11/1 prompting Admissions to be cautious about number of admits at this point. In other words, they may be treating “waitlist” like “deferred” and will re-evaluate once they get through all the regular decision applications. From some of the stats posted by other waitlists it’s clear that some are pretty strong candidates so would be very high likelihood of admission should a space open up in their college. The wild-card, of course, is how many spaces will open up this year.

For UW-Madison, the average OOS (including MN) ACT is about 30. That means that 50% is higher and 50% lower. The average overall uw GPA is 3.85 (both in-state and OOS). w/o a hook, not sure about your chances there.

Have you looked into ISU? We know someone with very similar stats, PSEO experience, and lots of E/C’s who was accepted there and plans to major in engineering. Something to consider given that you were hoping for CSE.

Good luck to you!

@wallowa can’t help you with that one - sorry! :frowning:

Edit: referring to comment #5. I don’t actually know the odds for U of MN waitlist. It varies from year to year and this year is different just due to the different admission deadlines. Congrats on getting into ISU - excellent engineering program, from everything I’ve heard.
