Generally, all A’s since Freshman year. However, I did get a D in my Freshman year, explaining my rather dismal GPA.

Extracurriculars–

Stage Manager for the Drama Club
Head of a Book Club
Founder of a political club at my school focused on school issues, etc.
Canvassing for the local Democratic Party
Volunteered at a Humane Society for a short period of time

Job–

Hostess at a local restaurant, though only in the summer months.

Other info.–

From a lower income family in the midwest, attend a college prep. school.

English/History/Biology

I would say you have a really solid chance of getting accepted. Your ACT is within range, your “dismal” GPA (which is not bad at all really) is within range, your course load is really solid, and your extracurriculars are great, too. Personally I would say Bryn Mawr is a target for you, possibly a bit of uncertainty just because it’s a little selective. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing.

The D isn’t a big deal, I don’t think. If you’d got it in your senior or junior year, it could be, but it being from your freshman year I don’t think you have much to worry about.

I would make sure you visit, do an interview, get good recs, and take a lot of time on your essay. Like I said, I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
