Chance Me? :)

Hi! So I’m a junior right now (class of 2018) but I’ve been visiting various colleges on breaks from school lately and wanted to get a feel for where I stand in terms of the admissions process. I want to study either Political Science or International Relations (or both).

If you would be willing, I’d appreciate if you’d chance me for the below schools—

GPA weighted or unweighted?

@a20171 I actually don’t know, this is the only number my school provides me with… but I would assume weighted because we get points for honors/AP/advanced classes.

Princeton would be a really high reach because of GPA, Georgetown a reach/low reach but someone from my school got in last year with an 87 W GPA so definitely in the ball park. You have a good chance at all the other school. Make sure you show a lot of interest in Tulane if you’re serious about it because they’ve been rejecting high stats for lower ones because of that. Good luck (:

And side note - if you go to your counselor and ask to see your full transcript, they probably have the UW GPA too.

@a20171 Thanks so much!

Georgetown University (by and far 1st choice) - accept
Tulane University - accept
University of Southern California - accept
College of William and Mary - accept
Washington and Lee University
Tufts University - accept
Dartmouth College - waitlist
Princeton University - reject (gpa isn’t high enough)

Hey your application is great honestly, I think you have a shot at all the schools I listed just now. You have a great shot into Gtown and others and just keep working hard so you can make that GPA higher that’s what I’m doing as well!

Chance me back?

Your ACT & extracurriculars are great, but your GPA could be a bit higher. I’d chance:
Georgetown University: Accept/Waitlist
Tulane University: Accept
University of Southern California: Accept
College of William and Mary: Accept
Bucknell University: Accept
Washington and Lee University: Accept
Tufts University: Accept
Dartmouth College: Waitlist (maybe acceptance)
Claremont McKenna College: Accept
Princeton University: Reject
Hamilton College: Accept

Best of luck! Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1966406-chance-me-upenn-ed-yale-brown-princeton-etc-will-chance-back-p1.html

Id say your profile is great, especially your ECs.

Tulane University: High Chance
University of Southern California: High Chance
College of William and Mary: High Chance
Bucknell University: High Chance
Tufts University: Good Chance
Dartmouth College: Nope
Claremont McKenna College: High Chance
Princeton University: Nope
Hamilton College: High Chance

Best of Luck! It all depends on your recommendations and essays. Nail them and youre good!

Your ACT and ECs are solid, and I think you can get into Tulane, William & Mary, Bucknell, Hamilton, Claremont McKenna, Tufts, and Washington & Lee. USC and Georgetown would be slightly harder, so I’d say it’ll come down to your essays and teacher recs. Dartmouth and Princeton are reaches, especially the latter, but you have a shot. Good luck!

So, your test scores won’t limit you anywhere, but your GPA may be a little on the lower end for some of these places. That said, your ECs look good, especially for political stuff.

Georgetown University (by and far 1st choice) - I’d guess accepted. The only thing holding you back would be GPA, but everything else lines up so I’ll guess you’re in.
Tulane University - Accepted
University of Southern California
College of William and Mary - Accepted
Bucknell University - Accept
Washington and Lee University - Accept
Tufts University - Accept
Dartmouth College - Waitlist/Deny
Claremont McKenna College - Accept
Princeton University - Deny
Hamilton College - Accept

Best of luck, if Georgetown goes your way then I guess none of the other ones matter.

Thanks for the input!! @Lehnsherr @grandlv @aryan096 @writergirl0316 @softiestudies

Georgetown University - Accept
Tulane University - Waitlist
University of Southern California -Accept
College of William and Mary - Waitlist if you’re OOS
Bucknell University - Accept
Washington and Lee University - Accept
Tufts University - Waitlist
Dartmouth College - Deny
Claremont McKenna College - Accept
Princeton University - Deny
Hamilton College - Accept

Dartmouth and Princeton are very high reaches with your gpa, USC and Georgetown might be reaches too, but your ACT and extra curriculars are great so you never know. I think you have great chances with the rest of them.

I’d recommend applying to some safeties

Thanks for weighing in! Much appreciated @savannarose6 @NJDad68

Yeah I didn’t include my safeties on this list (because my college counselor said that admission with my stats and coming from my school would be essentially guaranteed at both SMU and U of H. @hibiscus99

Oh good, I thought these were the only schools you were applying to lmao

EDIT: forgot to mention that I am a legacy at both Dartmouth and Princeton, and my parents are interviewers for both places if that even helps at all. I also lived in the Middle East for 3 years if that would help for Georgetown. Also will be either NMS or commended for PSAT.

legacy will definitely help for princeton, not sure about dartmouth -
you stand a great chance at georgetown, as well as the other schools you’re applying to.
i’d say:
Georgetown University: accept
Tulane University: accept
University of Southern California: accept
College of William and Mary: dk much about them but accept (?)
Bucknell University: dk much about them but accept (?)
Washington and Lee University: dk much about them but accept (?)
Tufts University: dk much about them but accept (?)
Dartmouth College: waitlist/accept
Claremont McKenna College: accept
Princeton University: waitlist/accept
Hamilton College: accept

good luck!!

My father went to Princeton, and trust me when I say that you never know with Ivy’s, they are UNPREDICTABLE! I wish you great luck, your profile looks great!
