Hi there,
I go to a small Canadian publicly funded catholic school in a equally small town where there is not much opportunity or funding for things like science fairs, math competitions, etc. I am only applying to reaches in the states as I am also asking for a lot of financial aid. Below are my stats, please be kind and provide constructive criticism on how I should fair in the unfamiliar American admissions process.

Obective:
SAT I: 1460 (720 R, 740 Math) - first sitting - planning on taking again
SAT II: 750 Bio M, 750 Math II
GPA: 93.5/100%
Rank: top 5 / 120

**School does not offer IB, Honours, or AP courses
U - university level (highest rigour at my school)
M - mixed level (university & college)

Extracurriculars:
-Varsity Soccer (4yrs),
-Varsity Rowing (4yrs), (hoping to get recruited)
-Cross-Country (3yrs),
-Track (4yrs),
-Concert Band (4yrs) - first chair alto sax.

-Jazz Band (3yrs) - performed around town and at church
-Started own fundraiser in which I ran 1000km in 100 days to raise money for children’s hospital where I had life-threatening issues dealt with when I was 6 (raised >$1000),
-Co-founded clothing business in which all proceeds went to the same children’s hospital (~$500),

  • All this while practically raising and tutoring my little brother for the past seven years (parents both work 8am - 10pm).

Job/Work Experience:
-Worked at family restaurant for 4+yrs

Volunteer/Community Service:
-Mentored elementary school kids,
-helped teachers and community through labour work
-Approximate 100+hours officially on transcript

Other Info:
-Canadian applying for financial aid therefore only applying to some Ivies (uPenn (most likely ED), Harvard, Columbia, Yale, Brown) and top schools like JHU, Northwestern, Duke, uChicago
-First gen. college
