My son just graduated and will be attended Purdue in the Fall for Computer Science. We are OOS (in Ohio). Some of his info…3.93/4.0, ACT 31 (32 super), not as many AP as you but he is at a college prep school so more Honors/some AP, swim varsity athlete, his school has lots of volunteering requirements and he has extensive amounts with different organizations. I can only give you info on where he applied based on your list, he was admitted to:
Purdue- accepted into the College of Science for Computer Science, received a scholarship; fyi computer science majors pay $2000 more for tuition due to the major; he had not visited prior to applying and only went to the accepted students day in the program; impressive accepted student day program
RIT - accepted, received a decent scholarship which put the expensive price tag in line with Purdue; he visited 2x but the campus is not a typical feeling campus; impressive program just couldn’t get over the feeling of the campus.
RPI - offered waitlist but did not take it; too many other good choices and he didn’t want to wait; never visited
Ohio State - just fyi; accepted and received scholarship; he NEVER wanted to look at the school but went to the accepted student day and was impressed with the program
In the end, for him, it came down to Ohio State and Purdue and he felt Purdue was the one. You have great choices but, don’t get set on any one. I’m not sure if you have visited these schools or they are just the “best” ones for your major. You will need to narrow it down a little to bigger/smaller, urban/rural, etc. You will be eligible for some academic money (not including financial aid, if eligible). The more difficult school, the less appealing you will be because you will be the “typical” student there and less academic money you will get. Also, average stats that are published online for GPA and test scores are AVERAGES for the school. The average GPA and test scores for anyone applying in engineering or technology is ALWAYS higher. Send all your apps out early, usually Nov 1st and wait. Throw in your best state school in your program (even if you don’t want to) and see what comes back. Based on your list, I assume you are more East coast but not sure. Think about the traveling and logistics to get to and from school. You will start hearing back from schools by Jan 1st although some you are looking at are much later. Once you receive acceptance, usually 2-4 weeks later you will receive academic scholarship info.
Again, all of those are great choices! Find a place that feels “good” when you are walking around and a place that you can see yourself at. Good Luck!
