I live in the Culver City area, moved to LA in January 2017, 2nd semester of junior year.
Lived in Florida
Had to go to 3 different high schools (2 in Fl and 1 in CA)

Weighted total GPA: 4.2
Non-weighted total GPA: 3.8579
Honor Roll student
Only get A’s and a few B’s, also got CSF
*My school doesn’t count honors classes only AP’s to calculate the GPA
*GPA does not include 11th-grade 2nd semester

SAT (new): Will take in August (Hoping for above 1400 out of 1600)
ACT: Will take in September
SAT II: Math 2 (will take later), Have taken Bio-M but will get scores in July, US History-670

AP’s taken:
9th grade: AP Human Geography (4)
10th grade: AP Comp Sci (2), AP Bio (2), AP World History (3) *Had an accident in April 2016 which resulted in 2 surgeries and splenectomy so I wasn’t able to study much for the AP exams :frowning:
11th grade: AP Comp Sci Principles (took it only for the first semester, new school didn’t have this course), APUSH (?),
AP Environmental Sci (?), AP Calculus AB (?), AP English Language (?)
*Will take General Physics this summer at a community college
12th grade schedule: AP Stats, AP Comp Sci Principles, AP English Lit, AP US Gov & Econ, AP Chemistry.

Major: Right now undecided but leaning towards life sciences

*I would appreciate it if you can give me some information about the admission requirements for UCLA! (accurate range for AP scores, SAT, ACT, GPA, etc…) and please if anyone can tell me what is the most important factor in determining acceptance into a college especially UCLA (SAT/ACT scores, EC or GPA)?

See if you can explain the AP and surgery conflict- this might be a good thing to brief your counselor on so they can mention it in their recommendation for you. I don’t think those scores will do much damage to your application, though.

Does your school give you a UC GPA? It counts core classes (science, english, math) and leaves out stuff like yearbook. It also rounds your grades to the letter (A- is a 4.0, but B+ is a 3.0). Having a UC GPA is super helpful for determining chances in the system!

Your chances look great as is. Get above a 1400 and you’ll have solid chances pretty much everywhere! You might want to look into adding Occidental as a good safety (its life sciences programs are solid). Best of luck!

UCLA like all UC’s are very GPA focused so if your UC GPA is 4.2+, you have a decent chance at an acceptance. Besides GPA, your test scores, HS course rigor and personal insight essays are all considered important. EC’s are important but will not override low test scores or GPA. There is no magic formula to get into any school, so all you can do is present the best possible application and have stats above the 50th percentile.

Your grades look really good and your test scores (though they have not come out yet) look pretty decent. For the SAT I recommend you get at least 1500 or above to have a decent chance at UCLA, Stanford, JHU, MIT, USC, and Rice. Additionally, your clubs and awards look stellar, but if anything, I would suggest you do some other STEM ECs such as research. Your chances look really good for most of the UCs though! Good luck!
