I know my GPA is a bit low, but hoping the ACT and extra curricular activities/work/leadership help out. All A’s during Jr. year, except for one B in Pre-Calc. Grades show an upward trend from freshman year to now.

I like your chances.

I think it would be cool if you did your essay in the form of a dramatic script. They really look for unusual essays that also communicate important things about you. (The read hundreds a night, and a lot of them start to sound the same)

Thanks! My essay was not a dramatic script, but was not a typical essay, either. I wrote about how I realized that music is more than winning competitions and being recognized, but really has the ability to affect change in people. Wrote it in a very dramatic and descriptive way, and brought it back around at the end to the lesson I learned at a competition where I was only focused on how my dress looked, and whether I hit all of the right notes. I think it reads well, and the way it was written makes it different.

Hoping it helps. UF is my first choice, and my GPA is a little bit low.

Hit “all the right notes” – haha! (Play on musical words) It sounds like you did a great job on the essay. Believe me, that goes a long way in helping you stand out! I like your chances.

And I thought UF was supposed to be easy

Anyone else getting concerned that UF’s stats will increase pretty dramatically this year? It looks like FSU came up quite a bit, so I would assume UF would do the same.

Was admitted to FSU for Fall with Freshman Scholarship, but am really concerned about UF.

I can almost guarantee UF’s stats will rise a fair amount. OOS tuition is a bargain compared to other states (it nearly matches in-state tuition for Pitt, Penn State, and Temple) and UF continues to climb in the rankings.

@rccoble where did you see FSU’s admissions stats for this year? I haven’t been able to find it. Thanks

I am concerned. I’m thinking the essay consideration is really only the differentiator for those with the full fledged stats. My UF weighted gpa was a 4.21 so I am concerned that knocked me out - regardless of differentiated unique essay.
