Hi! I’m currently a high school senior, and my top schools are Harvard, UChicago, and UC Berkeley. I do have an extensive list of match schools and safety schools that I would also love to go to, because I know all these schools are extremely competitive and that any qualified student would have a heck of a time getting into them. If anyone has any insight into admissions decisions, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
Major: Molecular biology/biochem
GPA unweighted: 3.97/4
Rank: Definitely top 10%, probably valedictorian, but school is small and doesn’t formally rank
SAT superscored: 1530/1600
ACT unsuperscored: 34/36, only took it once after sophomore year
APs: as a sophomore- AP Physics 1 (4), AP English (4), AP World History (4), as a junior- AP English (5), AP Biology (5), AP Calculus AB (5), as a senior I will be taking: AP Physics 2 (calculus based), AP Calculus BC.
Whoops, I accidentally submitted that early, but I’m also an AP Scholar, National Merit Semifinalist, Mock Trial captain (state award winning individually and with my team), Science Olympiad member, President of Student Government, NHS member (completing a major community service project), Head of my school’s model un club, and a varsity athlete for volleyball, track, and cross country.
My recs are great, by my Chinese teacher and English Teacher, both of whom I think will write really strong letters. I had an interview with a Harvard alum 10/10, even gave him some book suggestions, great discussion, also had an interview with a UChicago alum, 8/10
I have 400+ hours of community service because I have volunteered at an animal shelter since freshman year, and I am also currently conducting research on native birds in my area, and I will try to get published, which is also cool because I live in a very unique area with some very unique endangered species.
