With your new list I now seem some schools such as Connecticut which are at worst low matches, and which might be safeties. However, it is hard to imagine why it (or Minnesota, or the Florida schools) would be worth the price difference compared to U.Mass Amherst unless I am missing something.
“Receiving mail from schools does not mean anything.”
Very true.
The perks of Minnesota and the Florida schools are that they offer merit scholarships for their out of state students that make the tuition even lower than UMass Amherst. South Florida, for example, has a full tuition scholarship that I qualify for hands down. Also, those schools have established medical programs and are in big cities (which, as an aside, are what I’m looking for).
