Chance Me? :)

So I heard that UChicago is implementing a test-optional section on Common App, so here I am:

W: 4.1
UW: 3.8
Rank: 76/503 (top 15%) ((has possibly changed since the start of the school year))

AP- APUSH, AP European History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Psychology, AP Literature

All Honors classes and AP

EC:
Tri-M National Music Honors Society
National Honors Society
Youth Orchestra for the county
All-County Orchestra

Key Club
HOSA
7 years playing the violin (1st chair)
10 years playing the piano
3 years playing the guitar
Executive Board Member in NHS
Volunteers at the library

Other colleges I’m planning to apply to ((if it even matters):
UNC-Chapel Hill
UNC Charlotte
UNC Wilmington
NCSU
ECU
Virginia Tech
Spelman
NC A&T
NYU
Duke

I’m from North Carolina.

Hooks? (?): low-income, first-generation college student, first-generation American, LGBT, Haitian-American

My stats may be low but I’m ambitious :))

-No AP Calc in HS might be a tough hurdle to overcome.

The test optional route, if you choose to not submit, must be somehow overcome with the rest of the application. All the things I’ve read about it tend to point to this being a very rare exception that is overcome with exceptional talents elsewhere.

So are you the next Joshua Bell on the violin?

The rest of your ECs appear to be the same ones I see on all of these threads?

You do have a hook or two that will help. Your story you weave in the rest of the application will have to be super exceptional

OP, some questions:

what subjects/majors are you interested in?
Why not submit a test score?
What is so special to you about UChicago?
What admission plan are you shooting for?
