Chance me

Hi! Syracuse is def in my top two schools but I decided. it to ED for financial reasons. My first choice program is The Citizenship and Civic Engagement program (maxwell school) and my second choice is political philosophy in CAS. Syracuse is extremely popular at my competitive public hs in NJ, I expect that there will be 1 or 2 ED applicants and around 20 RD applicants. That being said here are my stats:
GPA: 3.6 UW/5.76 W (out of 7 w strong upward trend)
SAT: 1230 (630 english, 600 math) (weak spot i think)
EC: National Honor from the ACLU for my community service, on board for local community service org, work 6 days a week as a front of house manager of a diner, had a marketing internship my junior year, spanish honor society, social studies honor society, varsity ethics team, debate team, theater (2 years only), DECA state qualifier (2x)
Class rank: not reporting
I had an interview over the summer and it went okay, it was my first college interview so I wasn’t rly sure what to expect.

i meant to say not ED, so I am applying RD

If you were applying ED, you would have a really good chance to get in with those stats. Syracuse has done this for years where if you apply ED, its binding. So since they know you’ll be committing, they accept a higher percentage of students during this time period. Applying RD allows you to look at other schools as well, but it decreases your chance of getting in overall. I’ll give you some stats from college board. SU admits 47% of total applications, so it’s already selective. ED stats go like this: 1,948 applications, 1,286 admitted out of those 1,948. That’s a whopping 66% acceptance rate for early decision. You can do the math from here, but in order to get that overall acceptance rate down to 47%, they will have to be extremely selective for RD. I’d guess that only around 25-30% of RD applicants get accepted. So even with your stats, which are solid, RD at SU is no slam dunk for anyone. So just make sure you have other options available. Good luck to you!
