Pros and cons of honor college?

CPP/CSULB and CSUF: Very Likely (Safety (if local) to Match)
SLO/UCD/UCI/UCSB: Likely Match to High Match
UCSD: High Match to Low Reach

Many great opportunities through the Honors college but each Honors program is different and options can vary.

SDSU’s Webers Honors college has a very good reputation and the mentoring/professor contacts along with research opportunities are very good. The Con is that there is no priority class registration which is a perk at other schools.

Reviews regarding SLO’s Honor’s college are not that favorable. I do not have much knowledge regarding CSULB’s or CSUF’s Honors program.

For the UC Honors college, priority registration is definitely worth it for many students.

You would need to do more research about the options/programs and the extra work required for each school’s Honors program. There is no harm in giving the programs a try and then opting out if they do not serve your needs.

Best of luck.
