Chance me.

<p>I posted this in the summer freshman class thread, but only one person posted....and i also posted this in the 'chance me' section but everyone there is up to their heads in ivy schools so they just overlooked mine. Anyways...</p>

<p>I honestly didn't and still don't want to post my stats, because of my horrible test scores...but the thought is killing me, so i have to post it. </p>

<p>If anyone could please tell me what my chances are of actually getting accepted into UT? ^_^. I have a brother that goes to UT, and i made sure I included that in my application....and i'm also a minority (indian...the one from india). I realize i have pretty average stats compared to everyone else that gets accepted. If I get offered the CAP program, then my parents won't let me accept it but if i get offered SFC they will. :?</p>

<p>Sidenote: There are apparently ALOT of people at my high school doing credit recovery right now which means that next semester they will be classified as seniors. If everything goes in my favor, I just might be bumped up to the top 10% (god willing). </p>

<p>Rank:
38/323 which means i'm in the top 12% </p>

<p>Decent recommendations.</p>

<p>GPA:
weighted- 4.3/5.0
unweighted- 3.2/4.0</p>

<p>SAT:
Sadly, i got only a 1650 haha. :'(</p>

<p>Awards:

<p>Cynth;
OK, my son is applying to UT. So I have an interest.
From what I see, you're GPA is good, but not great.
Your SAT's are good, but not great, but a lot of kids don't test well.
If you can manage to make the top 10% of your class, and you're from TX, you're in! Is it too late to improve them?
I'm assuming you've already applied. How was your essay?
Can you make it somehow stand out?
In my experience, you can send in amended applications and the admissions dept often allows it.
How about your recs? Ask the teacher who was your biggest fan over the last 3 years to write one. It may be better than those you've already received.
Charge ahead and try to improve your app before the deadline.
If you send it in and they say no; at least you've done your best and given it your best shot.
Also, ask for help from someone who is able to assist, like an alum, parent, relative, etc. Do you know anyone who's gone to UT? Or their parents?
Your guidance dept. is probably too busy and underpaid.
Good luck!!</p>

<p>Well UT doesn't actually factor in your writing score when looking at your credentials, so if you have a strong math + verbal score I see no reason why you wouldn't get in.</p>

<p>Post what college you are applying to and if you are an instate/out of state resident. Those two are probably the biggest deciding factors for you.</p>

<p>I'm applying to UT, and i'm instate.</p>

<p>He means, what specific college are you applying to?</p>

<p>Getting into the business school is entirely different than trying to get into an engineering program or college of communications... they are all looking for something different.</p>

<p>Oh, my apologies, i looked over that initially. :(</p>

<p>My first choice is Pre-Nursing
Second choice is Natural Sciences. </p>

<p>I just want to get into the university, if anything. Even if that means being put in under an 'undeclared' major.</p>

<p>My prediction is that you'll be CAPed</p>
