I know WUSTL is a reach and just want any insight. My fam. won't qualify for fin. need but I will probably need merit scholarship. Is this a possiblity

Thanks

bump.......

Looks like you have a nice shot...

Where should I go? WUSTL or USC? Gotta decide in like two weeks. :-/

hell yes you have a chance!

You definitely have a chance, but here are some comments/suggestions:

1)What area are you leaning towards?
2)SAT IIs or AP scores?
3)You SHOULD retake the SAT because looking only at the CR and M you have a 1290 which is well below WashU's lower level. Focus exclusively on M and CR because you can combine high scores on particular sections.
4)I think that to be competitive you definitely need a 2050+ (at the very low end). I recommend starting up some good SAT Prep-->blue book style.

Here's the thing I don't want to take the SAT again and I'm probably not going to. Right now I'm going to focus on apps/essays/ecs. So with my 1290/2000, ACT 29 Do I still have a chance?
1) Chemistry (either pre-med, or pre-pharmacy)
2) AP gov-3, will have taken 7 APs by graduation, 2 last year but only one test

honestly...if you're not going to retake the SAT, take the ACT over again and just send that. I didn't submit my SAT scores to WashU. I would just say its a very big reach for you right now, because both of your test scores are at or below the 25 percentile on the ranges they give. Everything else looks good though...but when it comes down to schools at this level everyone is about the same and if your scores aren't up to par, you might get looked over. Don't mean to be a downer, that's just the way I see it because of people I know who have got in vs. who have not. Good luck!

Good call to the last poster. I forgot that you had already taken the ACT. Bottom line is that you MUST bring up your test scores. I'd say either get that ACT to a 31/32 or get your SAT to a 2100. Those are benchmarks that I think you MUST hit to have a solid chance of distinguishing yourself. Remember that WashU shares applicants with schools like Harvard, Northwestern, Chicago, Duke and Rice-all top schools with top-tier applicants.

I agree. Test scores need to be higher, though the EC's are thorough. The overall trend last year tended to be more emphasis on test scores since schools need to filter down the application pools since its so big. Test would be a big help.

As for your chances at a scholarship... not to be a downer but Moog is a really tough scholarship to get and ArtSci is a hard college to get into in the first place (I'm a Woodward Scholar in Engineering). For best chances, ED cause WashU def likes ED, its almost a guarantee in, compared to RD chances.

And if you want premed why not save on a state/public school and go to a good med school. Just a thought.
