As of last October, my SAT score is a 1660:
Math - 580
Critical Reading - 510
Writing - 570

My GPA as of Junior Year last year is around a 2.9 to a 3.0 (around a 84-85 i guess)

I was on the Wrestling Team last year and I'm the captain of the Golf team this year. I've been on the Golf team since Sophomore year.

I have like over 250 hours in Community Service and I have work experience from Summer jobs.

This year I've stepped it a notch and been getting 90s in my classes and stuff, trying to raise my average even though they might not even see it.

I really want to get into Stony Brook.

Tough call from what you've posted... if you really have done better this year, it might be a situation where we need to see midyear grades or something along those lines. The average SAT for admitted students for Fall 07 was a 1241/1600, to give you some kind of guideline.

-Chris

Hm.. alright thanks.

Would applying early action increase my chances?

your better off going to an easier school and getting a higher GPA,, Stony Brook is extremely demanding keep that in mind

No, early action and regular admit requirements are the same.

-Chris

does SBU superscore?

Superscore is taking the highest grade from each section of the SAT from different exams.
Like if you get:
CR-520
M-580
W-440
and you take it again and get:
CR-570
M-570
W-570

Would SB look at highest score from each test and see that:
CR-570
M-580
W-570
and get an overall 1720?

Ah. Just never heard the term before. Yes, we do, but we don't look at the SAT Writing, so it'd be an 1150 in this case.

-Chris

so i have a 1350 then...according to SBU Standards. that's good enough?

Not necessarily in isolation from the rest of your academic history, but it's certainly above the average SAT score of last year's incoming class.

-Chris

So I got a letter in the mail today from Stony Brook and I got in!

=)

My SATs scores have improved a bit since my original post.
M- 630
V- 510
W- 570
Total = 1710
