Chance me!?

<p>Now unlike most people on here, my stats aren't the greatest yet I am still applying to some top ivies and some other very good schools. I know I'm definitely going for a very far reach but who knows?</p>

<p>For: Brown, Williams, Yale, UPenn, Lehigh, Lafayette, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins and Princeton</p>

<p>Major: Biology/Psychology/Statistics</p>

<p>High School: Private Jesuit High School, (Jersey City, NJ)most students go to BC,Rutgers and Foordham though we do have our share of students in very good schools</p>

<p>Rank: no rank, top 10% though</p>

<p>GPA: again, its a 90.5, there's no 4.0 ranking at my school</p>

<p>SAT reasoning: 600 Verbal, 750 Math, 710 Writing, My verbal sucked I know</p>

<p>SAT Subject: Math 2-710, US History 710 Italian 600 (messed up) (Retaking in January)</p>

<p>AP: Calc AB 5, English Language 3
Will take: Calc BC, English Lit,US History, Biology, Italian and Statistics</p>

<p>*I hold the record for most APs taken at my school, freshman and sophomores cannot take APs, junior year I took 3 and senior year I am taking 6. Basically I have taken the maximum I can.</p>

<p>Activities:
-Summer H.A.P Program (academic and athletic program at my school , the whole month of july every summer)- 9,10,11, 12, served as a head tutor
-Varsity Bowling 10,11 and 12
-Varsity Tennis 11 and 12
-JV Soccer 9
-Varsity Math Team 11 and 12
-Seinfeld Club (woot!) 9. Vice President 10,11 and 12
-Stock Market Club 10,11 and 12
-National Honors Society
-Italian Club 10,11 and 12
-Handball Club( semi-original sport at my school) 9,10, 11 and 12</p>

President's Gold Scholar Award
Evelyn Glennie Music Scholarship (Piano)
Summa cum laude National Latin Exam 2
Bowling: Number 1 Average in County 11 and 12
Tennis: 3rd place doubles in county 11</p>

-I am profoundly hearing-impaired and wear a cochlear implant and my essay centers around the advantages that have come out of my hearing loss</p>

<p>Your essays might make the difference! :) Your EC's are good and with an improved SAT score, I think you may have a fair chance as anyone else....The universities you mention are extremely competitive.. All the best!!</p>

<p>but my school has a good reputation with georgetown, considering we are a jesuit high school, the only one in nj so I think I have a good chance with georgetown</p>

<p>hey, I'm also going to take the jan sats and signed up for it. did you already decide to send the scores to uni or are you going to wait until the results come out and then decide?</p>

UPenn- low reach (my friend got in as international student, similar stats as you, maybe a little higher SAT and 4.0 GPA, except NO ECs of substance....but ESL so idk)

<p>You say u want to study biology but how come you dont have a science SAT II? nevertheless... ur SAT is decent as well as ur subject tests.. what you will need to set you apart is the recommendations, and within ur ECs what you have done, etc. i think that your essay will need to be done well and not harp on the disability to much (pathos card can often backfire ive been told).. but it seems that you have looked at it as a positive.. with yale, penn and princeton i would suggest with the 2nd essay to talk about either an EC or something distinctly 'you' that doesnt deal with the disability </p>

hmmm...see thats what I was worried about when writing about my disability
I'll try that for the 2nd essay</p>
