i kno half the things mean nothing but can you chance me please ^__^

You are barely halfway through your junior year and you already have nearly 900 posts on this forum?...go enjoy the rest of your junior year before you start making chances threads :P

Besides, with those stats, you don't need chance threads to tell you that you'll end up at just about any school you want to go to.

BTW why did you post the same chances thread in the subforums of 10+ schools?

because i want to know if i can get into 10+ schools =)
plus the ppl in each forum probably no more about the school than random ppl elsewhere =)

Very high chance at Hopkins, solid chance at Ivys/MIT

Think about it, Hopkin's average SAT score is about 2150, and your's is probably going to be in excess of 2350. (Meaning that within JHU, you're probably in the top 10-20%)

At MIT (much more selective than Hopkins), over 25% of accepted students score below 700 on the SAT Subject Tests in Science. You have an 800 on 2, and will probably get an 800 on one more (just speculating).

Your grades are near perfect, and your extra-curriculars are very nice. You probably have a solid chance anywhere, and an extremely high chance at JHU.

I guess if I have any advice for the rest of HS (I'm a senior), it's that you should always take the hardest classes possible and learn the most you can. Try to take really hard classes at the community college, and maybe concurrently enroll at a state University over the summer (something I wish I would've done).

Both would look nice to colleges, but more importantly, they'd be fun and educational.

Good luck.

Solid Chance at Ivy/MIT? Read A is for Admissions book. It is 92%-95% sure she can get into any university she applies to, even to HSYPM. It would hurt her since her school doesn't rank, but if her school gave a GPA and grade distribution make up percent wise in the class, then it would make up for it. It is hard to say since she hasn't taken the SAT Is, but with those PSAT scores, you'll probably do exceptional anyways. good she is taking hardest possible courseload. Good luck!

Take classes at a local community college and commit to something long term. Get good recs and your set!

haha thanks. i doubt my local community college will let me take classes there

"haha thanks. i doubt my local community college will let me take classes there"

Ummm... that's kinda the point of the community college: to allow ANYONE TO TAKE FRIGGIN CLASSES THERE!

lol really. even really dumb ppl

My Community College requires you to take placement tests in order to take any real credit classes, but I seriously doubt that you'd fail those. Also, at my CC, a math score of 550 (I think) exempts you from taking them.

Looks like huge resume fluff to me... origami club, volunteering club, FBLA awards? Colleges don't really take that seriously, do they? Honestly, if we look at the real content here, you have good SAT scores, but everything else is fairly typically of top school applicants (GPA, classes, etc.).

What's exactly wrong with origami?? Sounds pretty original to me.

what DO they take seriously then?

He probably means that colleges would prefer USAMO or competitive awards over clubs/activities which are non-competitive.

But either way, you still have extremely high chances at JHU (95%+) and decent chances at Ivies.

Maybe consider AMC?

AMC --> AIME --> USAMO --> MOSP --> IMO --> COLLEGE

Good luck.

:-P

i want to make usamo ^^ a lot. more than college HAHA
if i'm super-lucky i can get a 10 on the AIME --
but never will i make MOP. not this year, cuz i haven't done a single proof in my life, and definitely not next year cuz i'll be a senior and there's no way i'll make black mop

btw i have the aime

Small shot. I would consider some public ivies but def. not JHU. You'll never get in. Ever. Just Kidding! Good chance, but chances are dumb!

It looks like you made some BS clubs for your resume and I'm sure admin officers will see right through that. Good luck; I don't see anything real impressive, especially for JHU.

unless you like make your essay out of origami "read: other medium"

If --> means "causes", then I have to disagree.

Obviously, most candidates, even at the top schools, haven't done USAMO, so its pretty unreasonable to hold someone to that standard. The top 5 schools (MIT,Princeton) accept people with SATs below 1800 (and occasionally, below 1600ish), so clearly, you don't have to be perfect - and a lot more matters than just academics.

But of course, something like USAMO makes you an exceptional candidate.

Mac91 is being a troll, JHU would be insane to reject you.

Obviously your extra-curriculars are extremely good, not perfect, but still extremely good.
