Chance me

Hey guys ! Can you guys chance me on stern?

GPA- 3.6 (ALL honors and AP classes this year except math :( )
SAT I - 2150
SAT II - 710 (chem)

Our school doesnt rank

Also i have numerous awards and ECs that have to do with business and everything plus participation in the national honor society

I also have 100+ community service

I will be applying next year so please chanceee!

I assume that's unweighted? You need another SATII, SAT's are uber great and looks like rigor of course work is good, but a quick glance in the "accepted" thread for sternies might indicate the GPA is low (at least compared to most of the posts. Stern is tough...for CAS I'd say you're sittin pretty

I had the same stats you do and I got gsp'd. good luck :)
you'll need another sat II btw

your stats are a little low for stern. you probably would have gotten into cas, though. but you you may get into stern. I hope you do! Good luck!

they really only look at math and reading so a 1600 split would be needed

stern is unpredictable

only 14% got in but business is definitely not as hot as before with all the layoffs so you never know

i know this kid who got into Stern, class of 2012, with SAT scores at below 500 for each section...i don't know if he was lying about his scores, he seemed genuine, but yea, i dont think his combined score was above 1550 (out of 2400)

if that's true, that student will have a very hard time academically. i kind of feel sorry for him or her.

they are kids who get into MIT with like a 1900. i heard they do really well, sometimes better than the kids with full scores! the reason being is that they like international math or like computer science champions. so SAT scores arent the sole determinents however if the rest of his app is as weak academically as his SAT scores he will certianly have trouble and that case is an extreme outliner if not inaccurate information

a 1900 is understandable for MIT.
800 + 550 + 550 = 1900
the person may have only decent reading or writing skills, but the person can excel in math which is what a school like MIT looks for.

but even though it's only NYU, a 350 difference, assuming that the student's score is 1550, may make academics very challenging. If the student has low 500s for all the sections, the student will have a hard time exceling in both math-related and English-related courses.

personally, I've only met one student with ~1850 at stern. everyone else who has taken the new exam has at least been above a 1900. the students who I know with low scores mostly spend their time only studying.
