Chance Me!

Do you think I have a chance of getting in at Skidmore, either as an early action applicant or as a regular applicant?

I plan on raising my ACT score: I took the test the first time not knowing ANYTHING about its format (I earned a composite score of 30), but now I have a book that I'm using to study. I took the SATs twice, but I found that my scores were average (600 to 690 for each component) and I was better-suited towards the ACT. I would really prefer to NOT take the SATs again.

Thank you for all of those that respond, and best wishes to all of you!

Ok I would give you a 49.7% chance of getting in. (It is taken from her link in case you didn't go there.) Really, it is very hard to tell who is getting in where and with what stats. I will tell you I loved Skidmore and son is going there. Good luck!

Thanks! :]
Best wishes to your son.

Any other opinions?

Your ACT score sounds fine. I asked a woman today (I can't remember who she was... she was fairly important though) what their average score of their last incoming class was and she said that it was between 29-30.

They don't rely on test scores too much.
I got a 1950 SAT, 28 ACT, and I'm going there this fall.
So you know
It's about being well-rounded and enthusiastic, that's what I got out of the whole application/interview process.
DO THE INTERVIEW though, seriously. Scary as hell, but I think that's what got me in. Although during the interview, she said "we turn down a lot of awesome kids..." I digress.
Any other questions about that kinda stuff, PM me, I'm happy to help.

Your AP scores and extensive extracurriculars are going to be a great advantage going in. I had a 32 on my ACT and a 3.7 GPA, #1 in my class, etc. etc., but was only put on the wait list. I think that it was probably "Tufts Syndrome" where they knew that I would get into higher level schools (which I did), and didn't want to "waste" an acceptance on me if I wasn't truly interested. I had a great interview there and everyone is so friendly and outgoing. It's become such a funky, creative school (really only in the past few years has it gotten this way), that you need to stand out, because everyone's essays are going to be different and abstract for the most part.

Good luck- it's a great school, and since I live in the area I can honestly say Saratoga is one of the cutest, most vibrant towns out there, and I would have loved to go to college in a town like that!
