MICHIGAN IS MY NUMBER ONE CHOICE SO CHANCE ME POR FAVOR!

I'd say your chances aren't that high. Though your SAT and GPA are in range with Michigan's norm, you only have 4 APs and you're OOS. EC/employment looks good, and if your essays are good, you still have a shot.

my chances aren't that high? Meaning, if you had to guess, i would not be accepted? or its no guarantee?

My essays are very strong...my teacher and GC recs, too, are VERY strong

and any other feedback is greatly appreciated !!!

Your GPA and SAT are very borderline. But if your essays and recs are as good as you say they are, you should be able to get in.

Unfortunately, a 3.7 UMGPA from NJ is a slight reach....last year many, many were deferred/waitlisted with similar stats...(even from your school)

seems like a unanimous decision that my chances aren't too good- crap

Don't fret though...most of the kids that weren't admitted to UMich are at other top 20 schools....Cornell, Vandy, Wash U, Barnard, Northwestern.....you'll be fine.....

If your guidance dept has a good relationship with UMich, you may want them to make a call on your behalf....can't hurt....

slight reach/reach . admissions were tough last year, this year looks to be worse.
if you applied a little earlier--- every thing in by the end of september. your chances would be better.
Btw what is your class rank. if it's in the top 10% then i'd change the chance to just slight reach, or maybe slight reach/match.
yeah your senior grades will not be looked at for admission.

blackpen2008: "yeah your senior grades will not be looked at for admission."

^even if you are deferred?

UMich doesn't look at freshman/senior grades during the admission process. They'll only check senior grades to make sure you didn't utterly fail your last year.

okay, so heres the deal...I love michigan, hence why its my first choice. My second choice is Lehigh. I would apply to Lehigh ED2 if I do not get into michigan, however, i think that i would rather be accepted to Lehigh than having the possibility of not getting into either. So, if i get deferred from michigan, do you think i should wait it out, for its my first choice? Or would Lehigh possibly be a better guarantee? Please, help, i want michigan so badly, so also, if you have any advice as to what i could do from this point on, please, offer it!

Oh boy....now I have to come clean...I happen to know who you are....You happen to be considered a Lehigh legacy and, therefore, have an excellent chance of being admitted.(even if you weren't considered a legacy, you'd have a great chance with your stats).....but I'm sure your college counselor has already told you this....what she will also tell you is what she found out when she spoke to UMich last year when everyone from NJ was deferred: "don't keep your hopes up; slim chance of admittance after deferral".....

very small world...

do you both go to high tech or something?

but if you're deferred, what exactly does it mean? I'm sure senior year grades would count to some extent. because otherwise, what are the conditions that change you either from receiving a flat-out rejection or acceptance in April?
