Don't be afraid to be brutally honest. I appreciate all input!

You have as good of a chance as any competitive applicant in the applicant pool. You're one of those applicants without any major flaws, but doesn't have anything that strongly jumps out (at least from your list of activities) either.

Just take a deep breath and wait. :D Go outside for a bit, CC is too depressing to be spending large periods of time on while waiting for decisions. : )

(I'm Asian male too, so don't worry. We are technically in one of the most competitive pools but it doesn't mean you can't get in!)

Weren't you rejected from Stanford in the SCEA process, outright? Wouldn't this suggest that you would also be rejected from MIT?

how can you apply to both?

that's right. how did you EA at two schools. wait till MIT gets a whiff of this - immediate grounds for rejection!?!

nonetheless, you have a record to be competitive - nothing stands out though. will you get in? i see a deferral.

OP: I was reading about your classes and grades and then saw that you were ranked #1. Then I read on and saw that you were from "Not too priveleged area, last student to get into an ivy league was 5 years ago." and it made sense (you have very little competition). No one applies to MIT without grades like yours, but most people have more of a hook than you do. What is your race, native american/African American/Hispanic could possibly give you that edge you need...

You have a chance.... so you never know.

Did you apply early?

nope i didn't apply early
