not sufficient for being a direct admit but maybe for admission to IU in general

If you are accepted, also look into the excellent Hudson Holland Scholars program, which you more than likely qualify for. They can help you with getting into Kelley, too.

Yeah, you won't be a direct admit, but will probably make the general admission and you can apply to Kelley 1.5 semesters into freshman year.

thnx for the insight guys. I was just wondering. A girl with lower Stats than me at my school just got accepted into Kelley. Not saying that I will get in, just wondering what was up with that. Other than that. Thnx

she must not have been a direct admit, she might have applied as a business major and got in to the university as pre-business so she must think she is in kelley when she really isn't unless she has received a special letter from Kelley that all freshman who get in get

The girl i was talking about actually got direct admit into Kelley. We share the same guidance counselor and she confirmed it. (We are the only kids in the whole school applying to IU-B). Maybe she was just an exception.

She could have petitioned to get in.

just a curiosity yungrich, what is your waited GPA, if your school reports one, as i know IUB considers weighted GPAs.

i doubt she would have petitioned as she has no intention to go there. My GC said the 1270 and 3.6 constitutes direct admission and is not necessarily a cut off. My weighted GPA is 3.863

I doubt you'll be directly admitted to Kelley without appeal. I have a friend with a 4.0, 28 ACT who didn't receive direct admission. Best bet would be, as others have mentioned, try to get that SAT up or simply appeal. If that fails, you can still transfer into Kelley your sophomore year.

you def. will get in
chance me back

thnx. as long as I get into IU-B ill be preety happy. I just read an article on businessweek that IU-B Kelley has to up its diversity or face less recruiting. Do you think that will lower the bar even more for URM's???

hey could i get a link to that article about the diversity thing? thanks

Here you go

Business Schools Urged to Diversify - BusinessWeek

from wht it says on the kelley website..u need a 3.6 or top 10% of class AND 1270 SAT or 29 ACT in order to get in...if u only have one of these then u can petition and possibly get in...since they look at weighted GPA..u have that but not the SATs...so i think you should petition and in the letter you write mention how you can add to the diversity you know they need...if you make a compelling argument u should have a decent chance...if that dosent work you can always apply again after freshman year which i have heard is easier then direct admit and if you get in as a sophmore you wont be behind the direct admits as its all the same courses really

kelley direct admit chances for me anyone? im an out-of-stater from a public hs

W GPA: 4.4
UW GPA: 3.8
ACT: hopefully 30s
ECs: varsity athlete, editor-in-chief of school newspaper, spanish national honors society board member

other random crap to add in, but that's the basics.

jax90291,

You will get direct admit as long as you get an ACT of 29 or better to go with your current excellent GPA.

P.S. However, in the future it would be better if you started your own thread rather than "hijacked" someone else's.

thank you. and sorry for hijacking, i figured the original poster had basically gotten the answer he wanted. also, i would feel even more annoying by starting another "chance me" thread, people sometimes get frustrated when those threads dominate too much over other threads.

I think that some people prefer that those who want "chances" post in the "What are my Chances?" section, but that doesn't seem to be true here in the "Indiana University-Bloomington" section. I'm not a moderator or anything, but it seems to me that anyone who wants information concerning their chances at IU-B are always welcomed by the many posters in this area--who are very helpful and respond quickly to all queries concerning any information needed about the school.

P.S. Let me welcome you to the IU-B section--and I hope that I'm not the one who is being "annoying" to you.
