Chance me

Hi,

Am an International Student from Mauritius (Tiny island East of Madagascar).

Would you guys mind commenting on my chances:

Class Rank: Top 10%

GCE O LEVELS: As in nine subjects-Additional Mathematics,Mathematics,Chemistry,Physics, Biology, Computer Studies, Statistics, English, French.

GCE A LEVELS: As in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, General Paper and French.

SAT REASONING: 660 Reading,670 Writing (10 in Essay), 750 Maths.
SAT SUBJECT TESTS: 800 French, 790 Maths 2, 790 Physics (Got 680 at first).

TOEFL: 117

TRANSCRIPT: Two Cs and at times average. I have the bad habit of working not so hard for term tests, but straightening things for end of year. Once I got aggregate 6 (D probably) in Biology for the Second term and ended up getting aggregate 1 for the third term (A).

ACADEMIC HONOURS: Special prize at my school for O Level results
Ranked 2nd in Mauritius for Statistics.

EXTRACURRICULAR DISTINCTIONS:

Model United Nations: I represented USA in 2007 and was selected as Best Delegate. Received a letter of recognition from the US Ambassador in Mauritius for the performance. In 2008, I was appointed as Secretary General out of all the best delegates of the 2007 edition. Took a lot of initiatives and changed many things. Sent an article in the press about me during MUN as well as the speech that I gave as SG.

National Science Challenge: Won the first prize at National Level. We built a remote controlled submarine. I sent a video of the submarine as well as a newspaper article about it.

Road to Davos: I was selected to represent the Southern African Region at a summit in London, organized by the British Council. We had applicants from several countries for the Southern African Region and I was selected among them.

Magazine: I was the Chief Editor of my school's magazine committee. I sent a magazine to the admissions office.

English Speaking Union: National Finalist for the Public Speaking contest.

I have also won a few other debating competitions, all of them at national level.

WORK EXPERIENCE: I was a TV announcer for a local Prize giving ceremony.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Every friday, after school hours, I give humanism lessons to younger students of my school. I deliberately did not mention my other involvements in community service because it goes against my principle. I cannot benefit from it in any way, direct or indirect.

UPDATE: I sent them details about a book I am currently writing.

My essays and recommendations are, in my opinion, very solid. The only thing that worries me is that lack of seriousness in term tests.

Honest opinions please...

go for it, man. no one can really accurately predict whether you can get into Harvard. I’ve heard of geniuses being rejected and of dumber people (i’m not insulting anyone, just saying your stats aren’t as high in direct comparison as some of the people I know who got rejected) being accepted.
