Chance me!

Hey guys, i'm currently a sophomore at SFSU, and will be applying for a few UC next fall. I would like to know what are my chances. Im going to apply to UCB, UCLA, UCI, and UCD. Im also applying to USC(Marshall) and Stanford.
My stats are as follows:

GPA: 3.48
Transferable Units completed: 33
Major: Business Admin at UCB and UCI or Business/Managerial Economics at UCLA and UCD
EC: Part time job, Business Club
Essay: Not Done.

Im also taking summer school for 12 more units. So that should bring me up to 45 units. I expect to get a 3.85 or 4.0 this summer. Please don't tell me to go to a CCC. I would prefer to just stay at SFSU and transfer i know i don't have priority but i have friends who have done it this year, going from CSU to UC.(UCLA).

No chance at Haas, and no chance at UCLA in Biz Econ.

Probably a pretty decent shot at all the other UCs.

thanks, well i still dont know weather or not i should waste my time apply for ucla and ucb. my other two choices are ucsb and ucsd.

No chance at Stanford or USC either. UCSD does not have a true “business” major.

So it looks like UCI, UCD, UCSB, UCSD are achievable? i know 3/4 don’t have a true business program which is fine with me. My 2nd choice for a major is Economics

Well, I don’t want to kill your hopes. Just saying Haas is extremely competitive. UCLA biz econ is pretty damn tough too, even for CCC transfers with 4.0s. I think UCI would be your next best bet. I hear they have the next best true business program that isn’t an economics offshoot.

dont worry about it bones, i honestly didnt wanna go to UCB or UCLA anyways. Too competitive for me honestly. my 1st choice would be UCI. I want to know what my chances are and how i can make myself better to have a better chance at getting accepted.

No chance in hell: Haas & Stanford
REALLY Far Reach: UCLA & Marshall
Match / Slight Reach: the rest

you chose some of the most competitive programs out there for the most competitive major. by all means, apply, just don’t get your hopes up.
if i were you, i wouldn’t even waste my time / energy on UCB or Stanford.

i doubt im gonna apply to ucb ucla or stanford. but for sure usc, uci, ucsb, ucsd and ucd. So you think i have a pretty good chance at UCI?

i sure that you have a pretty good chance at UCI.

USC marshall isn’t that hard to get into. I did the app in one sitting in about 20 minutes. I copy and pasted my UC essay and did the short answers off the top of my head. I applied just to see if i could get in. If you can get a 4.0 this summer then i say you’d have a decent shot.

thanks guys i really appreciate it. ill post again when summer ends with an update.

I still think he should apply to Berkeley and UCLA. The marginal value of $60 (and no additional application effort, since all he has to do is check another box) is probably worth the 1-5% chance that he gets in to those schools.

speaking from experience, I don’t think you should let other people “chance” you. it’s all up to the admission.
I had a cumulative of 1.8 a year ago. 1.8 won’t even get me to cal states. but that didn’t bother me. I started working hard during summer of last year. (yes, I transferred on time)

I’ll be attending UCLA this Fall quarter.

Thats totally different though. This guy is transferring from SFSU applying to an extremely impacted major. He also already has 33 units… his GPA won’t “jump” like yours did. He also has a unit cap because hes transferring from a 4 year, you didn’t.

^Everything he said was correct, its extremely hard to transfer from a CSU to a UC especially into a business program. Which there is only 3. But riverside is out of the question. If i don’t get accepted, its fine with me i like it here at SFSU. I would really like to get into UCI tho.

You will most likely get into UCI’s Merage school of business…Just push a bit for the summer session.

I thought UCI’s business program was only gonna let like 15 transfers in. UCI econ would be simple, but the bus admin could be tough.

Sephorazn18 you mean the summer session i’m currently in? im pretty sure i can pull a 3.5+

Would i be able to apply for UCI’s Econ then switch major into Business?
