Chance me?

I am entering my senior year next year and have been thinking about my college choices for a while. I live in a small rural town in connecticut and my school is the largest in the region with my class size around 550. I rank 90 =/. My freshman year grades were horrible which is why my gpa was affected.

I'm applying to boston university, bentley university, babson university and bryant university.
As you can tell I do want to major in business, particularly business law / finance.

My sat's were a total of 1830.
Cr- 540
M- 650
W - 640

I know my sat's scores are weak however standardized tests aren't exactly my thing and the critical reading always kills me.

I have a 3.5 gpa out of 4 unweighted.
I take ap and honor classes during junior and senior year.

I have solid a's , a-'s and the occasional b+. However english has never been my best subject which is where the b's are.
I take accounting and finance classes at my school and scored top 10 percentile on national tests.

I am captain of my tennis team,co-captain last year, varsity for 3 years. I practice pretty much 4 times a week with my teammates and will be attending summer practice with coach soon.
President of the asian cultures club at my school for two years, member for four years. I help plan events that educate members about our heritage and culture.
Was an intern last summer at a credit union ( which is like a bank in a sense).
Still working there today and no longer an intern but a part time employee.
A member of AFS however could not attend due to financial issues.

I know my sat's are weak and my lack of volunteer work does hurt.
My dad was laid off for a while and my mom is working to fund the family.
She has to support us and most of the money I earned from work I have saved up for college.

I have bryant as my safety school and might add uconn as a safety.

Try to explain your situation in your essays. It opens up a deeper level of getting to know you, in the perspective of admissions officers. I also suggest you take the SAT again, and use the summer to study your butt off. I know it sucks, but it helps. Right now, I’d say you’re in at babson and bryant, and maybe with a little left you’re in the clear for BU and Bentley.

Chance me if you can please.

You seem in the ballpark for the schools you are looking at. Try to raise your scores over the summer and work really hard senior hard to pull up some grades (schools do ask for the mid-year report). Good luck!

UConn is a match for you, not a safety. To get into UConn’s business program as a freshman with your stats I would say is a reach.

well uconn is the popular safety at my school since about everyone goes to uconn.
However I need a change of scenery so instead of uconn, I am thinking about umass boston as my safety.

I am considering taking the act.
I will take the subject tests and planning on applying ea to bentley and bryant.

you have a solid chance for Bentley and Bryant. Babson may kind of be a reach, but you still definitely have a decent chance. You may want to retake the SATs after studying over the summer for a pretty good score, cuz that could be the deciding factor for you. You’re ECs and family situation could also be taken into consideration.
Best of Luck
