Chance me : )

Hi guys,
I was wondering if you guys could assess my "resume" to see whether I have any chance of getting into some colleges.

College list:
Cornell (engineering)
CMU (CIT)
Cooper Union
Columbia SEAS (not sure)
MIT (probably no chance?)

And here it is:
GPA: 4.1 Weighted (No ranking) (around 3.8-3.9 unweighted?)
Courseload: Chemistry AP, all honors except College Prep English in freshmen year
Planning to take AP Bio and Physics and Calc next year, Spanish for two years
ACT: 31
SAT: 2110, 640 CR, 690 W, 780 Math (I'm taking it again, aiming for 2200+)
SAT IIs: SAT Chemistry 800, Physics 710, Math Level 2 800

Extracurriculars:
-High school band and wind ensemble and orchestra for 4 years (clarinet section leader)
-All-state, regions, county band on clarinet and alto clarinet
-Math Club for 3 years (treasurer this year, president next year)
-Club that goes to nursing home frequently (secretary this year) (2 years)
-AMC 10, 12, and ARML participant
-ABRSM Piano Playing Auditions Level 5 and 6 (passed and passed with merit)
-ABRSM Theory Exam Level 5 (passed)
-Local community band for 2 summers

-peer tutoring math
-Church chamber orchestra for 2.5 years (have been temporary conductor for couple of months) (concertmaster role)
-New Jersey Science League (Chem I and II)
-New Jersey Governor's School of Engineering and Technology
-competitive summer program, where only top 1-2 students from various high schools in NJ get recommended and actually get to apply and less than 25% get accepted out of those top students
-Columbia SHP starting this fall.
-Short-term mission to Argentina

It's not much but i hope you guys can give me some feedbacks and tips.

Also UIUC and Stanford (no chance prob?)

bump bump…

another bump…

I think you have a decent chance. Cooper Union is pretty selective though…so that might be a huge reach.
GOOD LUCK!

Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/757823-well-known-school-can-i-get.html

I wouldn’t say u have no chance at MIT… you could one of the lucky ones of the bottom 25 percentile :)

bubles:
Thank you, but which schools do you mean? and yea cooper union IS a huge reach, so are MIT and stanford…

I think you have a good chance. But make sure you write great essays.

bumping again…

bump :T please chance me more…

I think you have good chances at Cornell and CMU. I don’t know much about Cooper, and obviously MIT is extremely hard.

You’ve obviously shown through your classes, test scores, and ECs that math and science is your passion, but it’s good that you also show other passions such as music.

thanks. Um, would my chances go down if my SAT I score end up to be less than 22? Also, my school isn’t the most competitive school, and I am Asian-American…would that lower my chances as well?

bbbbbbbbuuuuummmmmppp

With the information that you have provided us with, I would say:
Cornell-low reach
CMU-match
Cooper Union-match?
Columbia-reach
MIT-reach

Your race won’t help you, but I think you can get into a few of these:> Best of luck!

Um would MIT be worth applying at all?

It doesn’t hurt to try. You never know, you could be accepted:)

Haha thanks. But I think I’ll pass. (BUMPP)

Stanford and MIT-High high reach. Go ahead and apply. You never know, but don’t count on it.
Cooper Union-Reach. It’s a small school therefore highly selective.
Columbia SEAS-Reach
Cornell-Low reach.
CMU-Fit.
UIUC- I have no idea about their stats.

Would applying ED for Cornell increase my chances of getting in? or is it still a low reach?

bump 10char
