GPA: 4.2something (weighted), unweighted probably a little below 4.0
Class rank: 2-3/139</p>
<p>Scores:
SAT I: 2350 (800 math, 800 crit. reading, 750 writing)
SAT II: 770 (Lit.), 750 (U.S. History)
ACT: 34 (bleh)
AP: 5 (Language), 5 (U.S. History), 5 (Art History)
Those were the only AP courses offered to juniors and sophomores.</p>
<p>High school course load:
I took the hardest course load since Freshman year, with the exception of taking Chinese instead of Spanish (which had accelerated classes).
Senior schedule: AP Biology, AP Lit, AP Econ (Micro/Macro), AP Chinese, Journalism IV, Teacher's Assistant, World Religions/Catholic Lifestyles (required), Writing
I will be taking an online course in Calc III later this year.</p>
<p>Extracurriculars:
1. Robotics Club - FIRST Robotics Competition Team since sophomore year. Involvement every week. Mechanic/programmer, Support Subteam Captain, this year overall Team Captain
2. Math Club - Interscholastic math competition, state math bowl. Since seventh grade. Now Co-Captain.
3. School newspaper - Since ninth grade. I am now editor. I have also written articles for the state newspaper.
4. National Honors Society - community service work, since tenth grade.
5. Riflery Team - Sporter and precision air rifle sections. Since ninth grade. Team Representative last year; there is no captain. Went to national championships last year.
6. Freshman Council - ranked last on priority list, because I hated the experience.
7. Real World Design Challenge - competition sponsored by U.S. gov, will be participating this year.</p>
<p>Et cetera:
1. Skipped PreCal, took Calc in summer of 2008 at University of Hawaii. Took Calc II online last year. Got an A for both classes.
2. Awards: NMSF, essay contest in 9th grade, AMC school winner since seventh grade, AIME qualifier, award for article in ninth grade, Principal's List (GPA 3.7+) since seventh grade, top student in eight classes since 9th grade, in top tenth of seven classes since 9th grade.
3. Team awards: 1st State Association team at NRA National Riflery match last year, 2nd in division at Hawaii State Math Bowl
4. Yearly community service, but not a lot; 40+ hours/year.
5. Grandfather was Yale grad.
6. CommonApp essays: about riflery, perhaps about ethnic background
7. Teacher recs: One excellent, another pretty good, counselor rec awesome.</p>
