Hey guys, I just wanted to know how well you think i would get in with these stats , but a really bad essay. I've always had problems writing personal essays, so I know for a fact my essay is going to be bad. Do you think this might make up for that?

A “really bad essay” will be a problem for New College, because your writing skills, as evidence in the essay, are of great importance to them. If you write well but are concerned about your handling of a personal topic, perhaps you can work with your English teacher on an early draft of your essay. I noticed you also asked to be chanced for UF, and while they require an essay, they are pretty stats driven and will likely pay much less attention to your essay than New College.

Your stats are inconsistent.

You assert you have math and science awards yet your math SAT I is only 600; okay but not exciting, and your AP math scores are subpar.
.
You also assert your essay will be bad, yet your writing SAT I score is a fairly decent 700. These do not compute.

Do we believe what you say or do we believe what you say what is your SAT I writing score?

If you write a “really bad essay,” your best bet is UF.

If, on the other hand, you write a decent essay, I think you’re in at NCF okay.

NCF puts a premium on written communication. That being the case, I would not let my admissions essay be anything less than perfect.

Yes i have math and science awards, because i was taking like 4 math and science classes in the same year, got a 34 on the Science ACT, and was the only student in my school to get a 5 on the FCAT Science(which is a big thing in Florida). i didn’t pass the AP Computer Science and Statistics test because both of my teachers in those subjects were first year teachers, and really did not prepare us for the test. i have to say about half of the materiel on the tests were not covered in the class at all. My math scores in SAT’s are low because i get really nervous during the test cause of the guessing penalty. i got a 30 on the ACT math portion. I am a great writer, when I’m writing about anything other than myself. i just sort of freeze up when it comes to personal topics. I’ve been thinking about just submitting some graded classwork instead of a personal essay, because i always got amazing grades in English Language AP.

If you have trouble writing about yourself, write on some other topic (my daughter’s essay was more about Harry Potter than about herself, though it did address Harry’s influence on her life).

Get help if you need it, but write a really good essay and I think you’re in okay. Otherwise, UF is a good choice for those whose writing skills aren’t quite at NCF standards.
