and I wont take SAT I will take ACT

SAT Subject is superfluous if you have the ACT (recent change in policy)

^ please give accurate advice

Cut and pasted from Harvard’s admission site this morning:

There is no recent chance in policy. Your subject test is not superfluous, in fact for Harvard you will need two addition subject tests.

Straight As until 10th grade doesn’t sound that great…

"Straight As until 10th grade doesn’t sound that great… "

Sounds like he isn’t able to handle the course load he chose, doesn’t look to nice to the AdComs.

@Smoda: Oh sorry, I was thinking about Yale. You’re right. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/785229-yales-new-standardized-tests-policy.html

@187: He’s a junior. How would he know what he would get jr and senior year unless he’s psychic or something?

@JamesChang: What are you talking about? I’m completely aware that he doesn’t know his true GPA. I did not mention this at all in my post.
I, however, said that his GPA won’t seem to be good enough if he has already managed to get Bs Sophomore year, which is in addition to his expectation of receiving more Bs Junior and Senior year. My comment is joking at the “Straight As until 10th grade”, which means all As 9th grade and at LEAST one B 10th grade. Please read more carefully next time.

ohh my bad

I meant till junior

I got GPA of 4.0 in sophomore year with one AP (unweighted)

See, 187? Looks like YOU’RE the one that needs to read more carefully next time.

@JamesChang: Um… I read correctly. It’s definitely not the reader’s fault if the WRITER made the mistake. If he said till Sophomore year, that means quite literally UNTIL Sophomore year.
How could I possibly have predicted that he meant till Junior year, and to use your own words, “unless [I’m] psychic or something”? I think you should think a little bit more before you post. Seriously, every post you made in this thread so far has been erroneous.

Geez, just because I said your chances for HYP was low in your other thread doesn’t mean you have to bash me every time I post something. Don’t you think that’s kind of low?

Uhm… if that was the reason, why didn’t I bash anybody else? I knew my chances were slim already; I was just wondering if I even had a slim chance that could get me into those 3 schools. But anyways, no, don’t try to pinpoint this on me. I’m pretty sure people don’t have crazy internet vendettas like you described.
Back to the topic: I clearly made a correct comment, you tried to insult me as if I hadn’t already known the obvious, and I threw it back in your face because it was your error, not mine. But if that’s your only rebuttal (personal, off-topic, and “kind of low”), good job.
Can we go back to actually chancing this person now that I corrected your mistake?

Uhm… how did you “clearly made [make] a correct comment” when OP made it obvious that you were wrong?

Let me quote:

OP’s words:

Oh, and:

How could I have known then? Are you insinuating that I’m psychic?

What about practicing what you preach?

OP, so far it looks great. Being an Asian male will lower your chances, unfortunately. However, you have strong extracurriculars. Keep up the good work and make sure you maintain a 4.0 for the rest of your high school career, and if you write fantastic essays, you’re gold. Take the SAT Reasoning to gauge your position (either a real or practice test) and work on it if you haven’t started already.

I made my comment based off his statement, “GPA. Got straight A’s till 10th (1 AP: AP Calculus AB 5)”. Thus, my comment was perfectly fine when you criticized and tried to fix it.
It is not until I made this notion that the writer came to fix his error. I don’t see why I have to repeat this explanation.

Like I said, please read more carefully next time. There was no way for me to have known this previous to my first post, which lead to my next comment.

Whatever floats your boat, man. Chanced him, yet?

My first post did basically give him advice, prior to him fixing his typo. Here’s my second piece of advice to him: Try to obtain a higher ACT, whether it be on your first test or later on. Try to score higher than the average Harvard student. You have excellent ECs and GPA, and a good ACT will put you quite up there.

Nice counterargument to the whole “till 10th” thing by the way.

Nice counterargument to the whole “how did I know he got straight A’s his entire high school career so far, then?”.

It really was good, wasn’t it? I congratulate you for realizing your mistake (oh wait, lawl).
