Hi,
I am currently in my first year of college, attending SUNY Cortland, and I hate it. I am applying for transfer for next semester. My GPA as of now is a 3.9 (I got an 88 on an essay in a class, which brought me down). I was president of the local chapter of National Honor Society (which had roughly 200 members(yes, i went to a big school)), Captain of Varsity Tennis Team, Secretary of Spanish Club, and staff writer for newspaper back in high school. I was in the top 10% of my graduating class of roughly 800, with roughly a 98 GPA (weighted). I am technically a sophmore here at Cortland, due to the AP classes I took in high school. I would be transferring as undecided, because the transfer advisor advised me to do so, because I want to eventually get into the business school. So.... what are my chances?

most important sentence of your post. School of Management is the hardest school at Binghamton to get into. It is very hard to get into as a transfer – but that is true for internal as well as external transfers. If you apply directly to SOM, your chances of getting in aren’t very good – I think I recall hearing that last year they accepted no transfers. BUT - if you get into Harpur, expecting to later transfer to SOM, your chances of getting into SOM still won’t be very good - I think I recall hearing that some years they take no intrauniversity transfers.

so really ask yourself – would you want to go to Binghamton even if you end up not being able to get into SOM? was the tranfer advisor you spoke to at Binghamton or at your current school? you might want to talk to someone at Binghamton about what your chances are of actually ending up in SOM eventually.

also fyi – [Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: School of Management: Current Students: Undergrad: Programs: Opportunities for Non-SOM Students](http://www2.binghamton.edu/som/curstudents/undergrad/programs/opportunities.html)

iamhere: Thanks, I actually talked to a Bing Advisor and they advised me to transfer as undecided, take all the GE’s and requirements for the SOM at Bing for this upcoming Spring semester. They are only taking 5 transfers into the SOM this spring, but many more in the fall. And my major at my current school is a joke, and I am not challenged at all, plus I have a lot of friends going to Bing. Seeing Bing is the same amount of money as Cortland, I don’t see why I shouldn’t go to Bing.

Bump!!!
