anyone have any idea what my chances are?

Here’s the “bubble chart” that PSU has on their website:

You are likely to be offered admission to a Penn State campus other than University Park. Additional review would be needed to
determine eligibility for admission to University Park.

Thanks for the link QuietType.

I actually called PSU today because we had some questions about whether they had rec’d DS’s transcripts. His scores have been there since July and his application was in mid-Sept. Turns out - the transcripts (US and overseas schools) arrived in mid-July but were never input into the system!!! UGH!!! The admissions assistant had his file in her hands (had to in order to check for the 2 transcripts) and said she was forwarding it immediately to the review committee.

This is DS’s first choice so we are keeping fingers crossed. He has a 2030/2400 and a 3.98 WGPA. So he seems to fall pretty solidly in the “blue.”

BTW - had the EXACT same transcript problem with Oklahoma. Talked to them this morning and by this afternoon he was admitted. Of course, that’s his safety and his last choice - but it’s still nice to get those acceptances!

ahhh im so nervous! PSU is my first choice! I wish there was something else i can do to help my chances

^^^
We feel the same way. PSU has EVERYTHING that my son wants.

In spite of my DH’s determination to HATE the school (mainly due to the OOS cost) - we all loved it…the campus, the students, the ENGR folks, the band…it was great. Plus, it’s 90 minutes from DH’s family, so I know if there were ever anything DS needed, he would be in good hands!

Good luck to you!

Grcxx3 : How many students in yellow area are in? (%)

tonyecc -of about 320 “spots” on the chart - there are about 75 blue, 76 yellow, and the rest black.

Please keep in mind I am counting little dots before major infusions of caffeine. I may be off a dot or two…

Grcxx3: I just wonder how many of yellow get in PSU. :)

tony - no idea, but it would be an interesting statistic!

Grcxx3: If PSU or any other colleges provide a system for applicants to “chance me”, based on its statistic, that would be funny. It’s good for college or not? Do you think PSU’s system admited blue students automatically?

^^ not sure about admission being automatic for blue students.

I am in the blue and I’m not expecting an automatic admission.

So - what would it take to be solidly in the blue region (not borderline) and not get accepted?

They don’t require teacher recs - so those don’t enter the picture.

Suppose a blue one should not be nervous, unless he/she is left side blue:) or concern the major

my stats are 1810/2400 and a WGPA of 3.755
that puts me pretty much between the yellow and the blue
would they then look at my ECs and my (gulp) written statement? could being a minority put me over the edge? hah
