Hello, I was wondering if any one out there could chance me...it would be appreciated, and I am out of state. Currently a Junior.

GPA:

About 3.5-3.6(don't know the actual value)...UW
Not sure what it is W...but around 4.0 I suppose.

ECs: Did some research with Physics teacher (Astrophysics), and some research with Math teacher (differential geometry), Part time job (9th-10th), about 100 hours of community service, self-teaching Astrophysics 1(which is why my GPA is low...sadly)

Senior Classes:

AP Calculus
AP Physics
AP Government
Honors English 12(hate English)

SAT:
2010 ( 750 M, 600 CR, 660 W)
Going to retake it in January, hoping for 2100+

Major(s):
Double major of Physics and Astronomy....undergraduate

Recs:
Mostly from my Math and Physics teachers....great recs...both can verify my independent study of Astrophysics

Does being from NY help my chances?

You’ll definitely want to raise some of those SAT scores, especially critical reading.

Your GPA might also be a bit on the low side, but doing independent research is great. Are you applying ED?

Yes, I’ll be applying ED

you have a good shot. get that CR over 700 . being from NY helps if you are applying to the state funded undergrad schools at cornell . my guess is the you will be applying to CAS? if so, i dont think being from NY helps.

honestly, from what you have now
i would say less than 20% chance.
but since you are junior you have time to fix it.
definitely bump that low CR score and gpa.
also, think about taking more AP classes in your senior yr. cus it shows that you are challenging yourself and it is one of the most important factor.
im sure most kids who apply to cornell takes about 4~6 on senior year.

Unfortunately my schedule can only go up to 4 and I can only take 3 AP classes…classes at my school are 1 hour and 30 minutes long.
