Chance Me? =)

I'm really nervous about getting into UT-Austin...got accepted into A&M already tho :D I'd really love to go to UT because of how diverse and liberal it is (I myself am a huge liberal). Anyways, here are my stats...

Class Rank: 118/637 (top 18%)
SAT: CR-580 Math-670 Writing-730 (Total: 1980)
GPA: 4.083 (weighted)
Wrote all 3 essays
Texas resident
applied for Biochemistry (2nd choice is Undeclared in College of NS)

Extracurriculars:
200+ service hrs, Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, Best Buddies, Band (9th), Varsity Track and Field (9th), Athletic Trainer (10th), Prom Committee, school-wide volunteer organization, Musical Theatre (9th), Vocal Ensemble (9th).

I've only done 2 AP courses because I had to switch high schools (move to the US) in my junior year...and my old high school didn't offer AP.

I heard that UT should be releasing decisions sometime this week (yikes!) so I'm incredibly nervous at this point...and I'd like to know my chances. Would I get in my first-choice, or second-choice...or will I get CAP'd? Thanks!

P.S. I've been receiving letters from UT Dallas, encouraging me to apply. Could this be a sign that I might be CAP'd? Or am I just reading too much into it?

Your rank and lack of AP tests are going to hurt you a lot, but you might make it. I think the only thing UT Dallas shares with UT Austin is the “UT” in it’s name. They’re very loosely affiliated and UTD probably just wants you to consider going there regardless.

yea…that’s what my counselor told me as well. she told me that my lack of AP subjects (hence the not-so-high GPA/class rank) is gunna be detrimental to my chances. curse my old high school…

thanks for your input tho! i really appreciate it :D
