Chance Me!

Hey All!
After years of roaming around CC and reading posts and getting a lot of information from them, I have finally decided to start an account. Yay! Perhaps the fact that I got a new computer has to do with that decision. Anyways....
I am a high school sophomore who gets As in academic subjects and Bs in Physical Education not because I hate it but because I believe puffing and sweating around a track (for me only) does not help my stamina much. I really don't have a passion, although I am looking hard for one. Ok, maybe I do have one, writing, starting a business, reading Wikipedia and so on, but I don't think that counts for everything.
I am very interested in business and engineering and hope to go into a top engineering/business school OR on the East Coast.
I don't think think I have a safety school.
Please chance me.

Quite a lot of extracurriculars o_O
hmm, I’m not particularly informed or educated on such stuff, but here is my opinion nonetheless. feel free to ignore.

  1. You’re only in 10th grade, a bit early for a chance thread.
  2. You have plenty of great extracurriculars. Way more than I had, and I managed to get in ;]
    a. Perhaps show interest in a few things instead of trying to do everything. Just an idea, probably not all that important.
  3. PSAT isn’t bad, but studying and improving your score for the SAT will definitely help.
  4. Keep your grades up and don’t slack off. P.E. is pretty stupid, but it’s also easy so don’t get a B just because you don’t agree with their philosophy.

Overall, you look like a great applicant and you’re definitely on track. If anything, don’t get lazy. That ruins people ._.

I agree with scotto3394.

You have a bit too many extracurriculars. Show a little more concentration in things you like rather than being so ridiculously spread out. For example, I narrowed my activities in high school down to just three things after freshman year: science research, newspaper, and lunchtime tutoring. Colleges don’t really want to see so much stuff (in fact, you will only have room for some 7 activities on the application); they want to see you focusing on a few things. And most importantly, your academics are above all the most important.

And you’re a california resident I’m assuming. UC apps don’t care about PE then, I think. You obviously still have to pass to graduate from high school, but most colleges don’t really care.
