What do you think my chances are?

Assuming that you wrote a decent essay, I think you will be in. Your GPA and ACT is above average, and you are taking AP courses which Michigan loves to see.

But again, be aware that Michigan joined Common App now, which will make the upcoming admission much more competitive.

What is common app? And why does that hurt my chances (as you make it sound it will)?

assuming your instate, you’re in especially if you apply early. Common app will make it harder for everyone because when common app is available, a ton of people that wouldn’t have applied to U of M actually will so there is more competition between students. The acceptance rate will eventually go down from an unusual 40% to more like 30%.
