Chance me?

Here is some important information:
I'm a junior in high school, so I still have some time to think about what colleges I want to apply to, but there are four that I'm already fairly certain that I will apply to for sure. Those four are Ohio State University, Miami University, Case Western Reserve University, and Oberlin College. What would my chances of getting into these colleges be?

Here's a little bit of info about myself:
I want to major in something science realated, potentially chemistry or neuroscience (I know, some of these schools do not offer neuroscience as a major)
I live in Ohio
Ideally I will need some financial aid because my family has some money, but not a lot, plus I have a twin brother, so college will cost double basically.
31 ACT (could probably be improved if needed)
No SAT yet, but taking it June 5th
4.35 W GPA, 3.85-3.9 UW
Ranked 8 out of 370 in my public high school's junior class.
Pretty rigourous schedule (or at least for my school). Freshman year all honors + two regular classes, Sophomore year 1 AP, some honors, one regular, Junior year 2 AP and the rest are honors, Senior year will be 3 AP and then my other 4 periods will be taken up taking college chemistry classes at Ohio State University.
5 on AP US History Exam. Don't know my scores for AP US Gov or AP Lang considering I just took them a few weeks ago, but almost certainly a 4 or 5 on AP US Gov and a 3, 4, or 5 on AP Lang.
Decent EC's. In Key Club and NHS, have a decent amount of community service. Selected to interview for a chance to attend a prestigious government camp type thing called Buckeye Boys State. I then went through the interview process and was selected to attend early this summer. By taking Chemistry classes at OSU senior year, I will be able to do research and an internship (will this count for anything though if it happens after applying?). Some other things I'm sure I can't think of. I will make sure to improve my EC's over the summer though.

GPA’s pretty good, but EC’s could use a little spice up with perhaps a little leadership sort thing?
You’ve got a good essay topic with having a twin and perhaps talking about the effects of competition and stuff it’s had on you. If you can raise your ACT to like 33ish, and SAT to like 2100ish, with your GPA you could easily qualify for a tier 1, top 25 school (along with what I just said ^^^). I haven’t heard too much of the schools you mentioned, but I’d think some good chances there, along with other higher schools

Thanks for the reply HonorLions. I agree that my EC’s are pretty bland and could use some leadership type things.

Also, I think I’ll probably only be taking the SAT once. If I do well on it, great, but if I don’t no big deal. I plan on taking the ACT one more time (in september or october, I forget which month it’s in) and I believe that a 33 or a 34 are in reach. Plus I plan on prepping a lot over the summer to maximize my chances of scoring well, since it will be my last attempt. For my 31, I didn’t prep much and I don’t feel like I performed to the best of my abilities, so I feel like prepping a lot more could definitely raise my score.

What other colleges do you think I could apply to if I were to raise my test scores a bit?

I’d say you have a good shot at these schools (though Oberlin can be a bit quirky). Bumping up your ACT will only help.

Correct me if I’m completely off the mark…

Ohio State University (I’m assuming the Columbus Campus) - Match - your ACT score is above the Median (24-30). In-state residency helps as well. 3.9 is a solid GPA.

Miami University - Match, your ACT score is once again above the median. GPA is a solid bet. In state residency helps once again.

Case Western Reserve University - It gets a little harder for you here. GPA is still a solid bet. However, you’re now a median student, since your SAT falls within range. It’s a private university, so in state residency won’t help you much. Stress your essays and ECs to turn it from a reach into a match.

Oberlin College - your ACT falls into median, GPA’s good once again. But Oberlin is a LAC - and they typically have quirky, strange admissions policies. It’s a private. Oberlin will probably be your most difficult college to get accepted into, but you’ve got a good shot.

Haha, don’t worry, you are not completely off the mark. I knew my chances of getting into OSU and Miami were already good. I was more interested in figuring out what my chances at Case Western and Oberlin would be.

Thanks for the info :)

Does anyone know if my potential internship involved with taking chemistry classes at OSU for my senior year next year would still count for anything if I did it after applying (cuz I think you do the internship for like the last third of the year or something)? Could I say that I was going to intern later in the year or something?

Bump. Still looking for more opinions plus an answer to the internship question.
