Chance me?

You’re right. But in your opinion am I doomed? :P

of course not

So do I stand a DECENT chance or do I have to get LUCKY?

Almost everyone has to get lucky to get in. Basically your scores are great. You don’t have your rank yet and that does matter. You have awards, research, etc. Problem is that there will be plenty of other smart, hardworking, asian males from California applying. So far there has been nothing to catch my eye that separates you. Soo… My comment is that in your stats there is nothing to stop them from accepting you (so that is good) but nothing (from my point of view) that causes you to stand out. That is why I also felt that an essay that may be similar to 100’s of others will not do you any favors.

Thanks for the advice.

So if I win national competitions and publish multiple researches would that make me stand out?

They won’t hurt you but given the applicant pool I have no idea if they would make you stand out.

Ahh I see so you’re saying it might help me stand out but that it depends on the pool…

what does make you stand out?

oh yeah…our school doesn’t rank but im in top 10% for sure, maybe top 5%

bump 10 char

Read through the admissions results for the current entering class to see the accomplishments, as well as the randomness of acceptances. As the previous posters said, you have the stats to make the “maybe” pile. Whether you are particularly, and individually fabulous enough for the “yes” pile is a determination to be made by the adcoms next Feb. and March.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. (Love thy Safeties!!)

Going through family stuff and helping your brother pass 7th grade aren’t hooks btw lol but they might make excellent topics for a common app/supplement essay !

^yeah i realized lol but it’s something that admissions will look at i guess and understand my grades.

wait so would they take context into account for the first semester junior year grade drop and the 3 in calc bc?
