Please consider the fact that I am a terrible essay writer

For rank I meant 41/845 (still in the 5% though)

You have a shot.

Despite being Hispanic, low SAT scores and lack of significant EC’s combined with being a self-proclaimed “terrible essay writer” almost ensure rejection at: Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth, Stanford, MIT, and Brown. Good chances at the others however.

Your chances aren’t very good… you should get better at writing essays.

Bump. bump^^

Berkeley College of Arts and Sciences = match (You have a good chance!)

Berkeley College of Chemistry and College of Engineering = low reach to reach

You should apply to Berkeley.

bum, bump ^^

Umm how is 41/124 top 5%? That isn’t even top 30%.

Sorry, my mistake. I corrected it later, though (look at the comment right below).

Harvard: High Reach
Yale: High Reach
Chicago: Reach
Princeton: High Reach
Cornell: Reach
Tufts: Low Reach
NYU: Match
UCLA: High Match
Berkeley: Reach/Low Reach
Dartmouth: Reach
Stanford: High Reach
USC: High Match
MIT: High Reach
Brown: High Reach/Reach

Overall I think you have a strong GPA and course load. However, your SATI score may be a slight disadvantage when applying to top schools. Your poor essay writing skills and lack of specialized ECs will definitely hurt you too. Do you have a specific interest or passion you can write about in your essays? If you write good essays, I can say that you will be a decently strong applicant to all the non-Ivies you are applying to and probably 30% chance accepted into at least one of the Ivies.

How is a rank of 41/124 = 5%?

Best of luck!

Chance me back? : )
