Chance me.

God it sucks to be asian male in comp sci.
Chance me. Thanks. I've become everything I hate by posting this D:

I believe have a chance here:
USC
UC Berkeley
Rice
Carnegie Mellon

Doubt I've a chance here but degrading input is nice too:
Columbia (Engineering),
MIT,
Cambridge (UK),
Stanford

Japanese Immigrant since elementary school / now a US Citizen
Male.

GPA: 4.30 UW
Weighted Ranked 10 in 450. Could be higher, but I doubt being 7 will be better than 10 by a lot anyways.
SAT: 2200. 800m 700w 700cr
SATII: Math2 800 Chem 760 Physics 780
ACT w/ writing: 34
PSAT: NMCommended with 210.
IB Diploma Candidate

Prominent ECs:
Internship @ state university under the ECE department, full time.
Solo Internship @ Intel, full time. Was paid to go.
President: Model United Nations (3yrs)
Programming Team: Lead Programmer (3yrs)
Key Club (Some Leadership) (3yrs)
Submitted Research on Comp Sci., won some trivial award. (that's low-level, not ISEF so bleh, and am too far behind on the extension project for ISTS this year)

Should I include? Not really great:
Science Olympiad Team: 2nd in State
Won two district math contests
NHS 3yrs.
Class Awards
Piano District Comp. 1st place x2, and qualified to teach by state examination
Ultimate Frisbee Club, we won districts, but it's recreational.

Freshman year: 4.0UW irrelevant courses and requirements. Elective: Site design 1 & 2
Soph year: 2 weighted classes 4.0UW. Elective: Programming

Junior year:

History HL 1st
Biology HL 1st
Physics HL 1st

IB:
Comp Sci SL 7
Spanish SL 6

Physics HL: will take, pre 6/7
Math HL: will take, pre: can't yet
[IB Diploma]

tl;dr
My UW GPA is not a 4.0 and it dropped junior year. That's bad, and I know it. But maybe the quantum leap in the courseload could explain, but it would show weakness.
EC's are weak but are generally cohesive. Stop saying that.
Full IB Diploma with good ib/ap test scores.
Average competitive ACT score.

It does indeed suck to be an asian guy in computer science. So, what needs to be most important for you is to break that stereotypical asian guy mold- show them in your essay that you’re a regular kid who happens to be really really ridiculously talented as well. It’s pretty clear that you’re an accomplished person, and I’d say based on sheer quantifiable data you have good chances at all of your schools. Unfortunately, so do a lot of people. My prediction is your chances are about 75% at your first four, maybe 60% at Columbia and Stanford (by any chance are you a hipster? that would totally help, hahaha.) and maybe around 50% at MIT and Cambridge. Probably the best thing you could do for your application would be to show that you’re also super-creative, but if you’re not, then I can’t in good conscience tell you to mislead them on your application. Like I said, just try to stress the fact that you’re a normal kid. If done well, that’s what would make me want to accept you.

In terms of your first group of schools, I think you’re in to all of them, though they are selective, so I guess a few rejections wouldn’t be surprising.
For that second group, I think you’re likely to make one, but not more than that. My guess is Columbia, since you fit the least of a stereotype there.

bump. thanks for the responses. ill chanceback. if you want.
