<p>Sorry for adding to the spam of "Chance Me" threads here. </p>

<p>Anywho, anyone feel like seeing how I might do for the RD pool to Columbia College?</p>

<p>Numbers
GPA: 3.909 (10-11 academic, unweighted)
SAT: 2350 Single Sitting (800CR 800M 750W) 2400 Superscore
SAT II: 800 Math, 800 Chem, 750 US Hist.
AP: 5 Chem, 4 AP Compsci</p>

<p>Sr Year: AP Government, AP French, AP Calc BC, Physics H, AP Macroecon, Money & Banking, Contemp Literature and Chemistry TA. Projecting a B in French (I skipped the fourth-year level and went to fifth-year AP) and possibly Lit as well (Not very good at the humanities, too utilitarian apparently for my teacher's tastes). </p>

<p>Coursework is a bit unique - I opted out of APUSH and Lit Honors in junior year, and instead took computer programming at my local community college. I took 2 courses per semester so I ended up having a full 7-course load. Only thing about this is that the community college classes are MUCH easier than my school's courses (hopefully Columbia doesn't know?)</p>

Exec VP, Regional Dir of Social Media (Western) and former Director of Tech for Future Business Leaders of America (2nd ranked nationally chapter, if that's any use), two state championships and two-time national award winner
Executive Director of a website development firm
Founder, President of a 501c3 dedicated to providing free website solutions to teachers
Founder, President school-wide Website Dev. Club
Business Consultant Officer of French Honor Society
Developed website for Music Honor Society, Class of 2011, Spanish Honor Society, Interact Club, Red Cross at my school. Currently engaged in developing California Scholarship Foundation website for the school as well
Research intern under a PhD student at Stanford Univ.
Intern for my dad's startup doing HR, Software Architecture, QA and learning finance
Intern at a company that my dad consulted for in IT department</p>

<p>Volunteer work is 1 year of Octagon and 1 year of Interact Club, not many hours in each. Since sophomore year my focus shifted over to business and leadership and away from volunteering as extracirrcs, hoping my 501c3 which I did as an entrepreneurial initiative would also cover some form of community service involvement. </p>

<p>Reccs come from a French teacher who I've had for 2 years (this is the third) and a chem teacher who I've had for 2 years (TAing for her this year) so they should be good</p>

<p>My entire profile is that of a compsci major but I'm not doing Fu because I never stayed awake in math class to be honest, so none of my math teachers really liked me (oops).</p>

<p>You need a 2400 SAT score. 800 on all your SAT IIs. 5s on all your APs. Perfect GPA. Be number 1 at your school. And be your school’s principal as a EC. You need a recommendation letter from Obama and another from McCain…to get into Columbia.</p>

<p>Even though I did a chance thread before, I am starting to dread them.</p>

<p>haha i realised somewhere along the line that columbia’s going to be a crapshoot for me probably. numerically my counselor says i stand a chance at everywhere (HYPS included) but it’s going to be up to the admission office’s whims really. </p>

<p>interesting thing is that my school sends 4-5 people to stanford, cornell, harvard, yale, princeton etc. every year, but almost no columbias. other worry is that there’s a girl from my school who has legacy (but its for grad - apparently that’s not worth as much?)</p>

<p>Don’t worry about it bro. Just apply. And wait. No point chancing, as you said its a “crapshoot”. </p>

<p>Word of advise: Expect the worst…better to have lower expectations then high expectations since the crash will hurt you more if its higher.</p>

<p>Not trying to sound negative, but…its a bit random at times. But never lose hope. Cheers. =)</p>
