What do you think?

maybe. most of your stats and ECs seem good but pretty average by columbia’s standards, so you’ll probably have to depend on your essays and recs to make yourself stand out from the large and generally well-qualified crowd. luckily, one of those is in your control. i would say more, but it would be dishonest to pretend to know any more about admissions to columbia. it’s a complex and often seemingly arbitrary process.

i would recommend removing scorekeeping from your EC list on the application (it screams “i’m trying to flesh out my EC list” and does much more to make them look weak than it helps make them look numerous; remember, the app asks you to list only those ECs that are most important to you, and columbia admissions officers emphasize [or at least they did to my information session] that huge depth of involvement in a specific activity is much more impressive than how many relatively unimportant ones you have). also, what exactly is quidditch club? i love harry potter as much as anyone, but it seems, superficially at least, like a pretty insignificant (as far as college apps) hobby club, and the fact that you’re president doesn’t really make much of a difference. i guess it does illuminate the individual and display personality, but i don’t think it will do much to show leadership experience, regardless of how many people there are in it. on the other hand, it could be an extremely involved, time-consuming, and character-building club, in which case i would make sure to properly articulate it.

What is your class rank or decile?

Yeah I wasn’t so sure about the scorekeeping thing but for Quidditch Club it actually has been taking up a lot of time. I was planning on talking about the commitment in the description of the activity, or possibly the short answer for the commonapp (but right now its my commitment to academic team)

and my school doesn’t rank
