upward trend in grades

Peer tutor in school (I use my lunch time to tutor kids in math/science)

Mu Alpha Theta president (national math club organization, will hold my position)

Korean Club VP junior year. President this year.

Tennis (private lessons but not competitive and not that good either) - 3 years

Piano (pretty good) - passed level 9 CM test

I am involved in various other environmental activities (like beach clean ups, planting tress, etc.) during the weekends.

Misc

strong essays - my counselor say it was superb

First generation to go to college

very tough courseload

prospective premed/econ major

You have a pretty good chance of making into Hopkins. JHU doesn't count non-core courses (core courses are : english, math, science, and social science) in your gpa calculations so your PE grades shouldn't hurt you that much (but how do you get a B in PE anyways?).

However:
THERE IS NO PREMED MAJOR IN HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO PREMED MAJOR IN HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO PREMED MAJOR IN HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO PREMED MAJOR IN HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO PREMED MAJOR IN HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't commit application suicide by saying your doing premed on your app.
PS: 3 in lang and 4 in econ is pretty bad, I wouldn't report those if I were you.

I would be happy if I got B in PE. Actually I got 3 Cs and 1 B in 4 semesters of PE. That is included in my rank, so it does destroy my rank regardless whether JHU considers it or not.

Well by premed I meant a major that is bio/chem related in case I go for med school. And 3 in English was self studied and I never took ap econ test. I don't know where you got the 4 from.

You don't have to be any major in order to take classes for med school. You can be an econ major, and on top of that take pre-med requisites. How did you got a C in PE?

man u must not like sports lol... "I hip hop dance but i practically failed PE"... does not make sense... have you seen the upper body coordination and balance on breakers... like come on lol... eh ED and ud get in... that is just my opinion... i did a lot more and should be in.. But we will see... u look like a decent candidate nonetheless... typical korean... (no offense intended)

i think that person meant a 4 on enviro sci; but i disagree, if i were you, i would send in my AP scores

i think that if you were a girl you'd be in for sure bc they seem to let girls that don't have realllly high scores in (not implying that you don't, bc i think you do!!), but i do think you have a GREAT shot. good luck =)

From what I know, you don't have to send AP score, you only need to report them

I was stuck with the same PE teacher for two years who hated my guts. He gave me C's because he just didn't like me. Actually he didn't like anyone and gave at least half the class C's so I couldn't even complain to an administrator. Can I write this in additional comment box or something? I won't if it makes me sound like a complainer/whiner and can hurt my chances.

Thanks guys. Anything I can improve on? And I will be sending all my AP scores, I doubt two 4's could hurt me and 3 that was self studied. Yeah jupiteradept, I think you send AP scores once you submit a SIR to the school you are choosing to attend.

Ah, but you shouldn't consider that until you've been accepted

You definitely don't need to retake any tests. You probably will get in, but I can't believe that you're not in like the top 1% of your class. You're taking lots of APs and classes at community college. You're gym class must have been really hard to drop you that much, or it's the other more obvious, likely answer.

Chance me please.

please resond, i'll appreciate it.

^thanks for the bump, but please make your own board.

rpj90, I did get couple B's in my 9th and 10th grades and the 4 C's in PE just killed my rank. =( And my high school doesn't factor in community college grades for ranking. I want to explain why I got C's in PE, but do you guys think that is just unnecessary? The PE teacher wasn't hard, but just plain retarded. I am retaking my SATs and ACTs because I think I could do better. And higher SAT/ACT scores might be necessary if I want to get a full ride at certain colleges like USC.

Oh and if it helps, my community college gpa is a 4.0.

im sorry, i'm new to this site and i didn't know i had to.
