Chance meh for Duke ED

Now, chance a rising senior for Duke ED

I only know that I want to go in the science direction, preferably Biology.
Academics:
GPA UW: 3.92
I'll refrain from posting my weighted GPA as it isn't quite as high as I would have liked. Our school has a 2 AP a year policy and even then only from junior year. We have no honors or pre-ap classes. Got special permission to take 3 during senior year.
Course rigor is probably as hard as it gets for our school.
Class Rank: School doesn't rank

APs Taken/Will take:
11th: AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics B (self study)
12th: AP Statistics, AP Literature, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C (self-study), AP Psychology (Self-study)

Test Scores:
SAT: 2330 (CR 770, M 800, W 760)
SAT II: Math IIC 800, Bio M 800, Chem 800, Physics is pending

ECs. Oh boy here's where I feel bad.

Info:
International. Asian. Male.
Stereotypical I know.
Financial aid is not needed.

Note: As an international my extracurricular opportunities are limited to say the best. Not an excuse at all, just a statement.

Thanks for chancing, appreciate it very much.

You have pretty much identical numerical stats to mine and I got in RD. Barring any extenuating circumstances, I would be surprised if you don’t get in.

Wow, thats nice to hear. Up until now, I’ve been told to give up Duke as most probably wouldn’t get in. I also heard that there is some kind of peer essay that a friend has to write you or something along the lines of that?

^ There’s an optional recommendation that’s not limited to peers. You could get anyone that you think would speak highly of you to write it: teachers, friends, coaches, even parents. Although I don’t think it’s a significant factor, it doesn’t hurt to have one more person to advocate for you.

Wow thanks for the advice. Hope you have a really great time at Duke.
Also welcoming other chances. Can’t decide between Cornell ED or Duke ED.

LOL Just stalked your post and you’re right we do have a quite a bit in common.
Sorry if that sounded creepy, I was just curious.

I’d honestly be shocked if you didn’t get into Cornell and Duke RD, among others. That gives you time to wait, but obviously the admission percentage is higher in ED (not that you need that lol, although its better to be safe in some cases). If you are locked on ED, visit the schools. Cornell obviously gives you the Ivy League connection, which some people feel they need, and some like to have with Ivy Socials and such (overrated haha). Duke gives you the good academics with a good sports/social life, but I guess if you hang out with certain people at Cornell you’d get the same social life.

Cornell accepts a lot of students ED and I love it and all of my friends who went liked it a lot. Like the poster above said, Cornell does have that Ivy League Elite Status, but Duke is still a fantastic school. I’d say your chances for both are pretty good, but I don’t think you need ED to get into at least one (probably 2)

Really? I’ve only ever heard far reach for both of them from my GC and people I know. Is there anything that I can do right now to further my chances? What part of my app is lacking the most?

If you state that you do not need financial aid as an international student, you may get into several colleges.

Bump10char

You have a decent shot as long as the subjective stuff (essays and recs) look as good as your numbers!
