So the Yale ED announcement is coming next tuesday and I am getting a bit anxious. Just wanted a bunch of strangers' opinions on my chances of admissions to get a better idea of whats to come. Heres a little info.

SAT - 2350
SAT II Math 2 - 790
Latin - 750
French 720
GPA - N.A. (i go to a really small independent private school so our grade system is different (i.e. no class rank reported to colleges))
Grades are split A-/B+ on my transcript, but have almost all A/A-'s so far senior year.

Extracurriculars - I do a lot of EC's, associate yearbook editor, 3 season athlete, MUN, etc. Also a captain of the varsity wrestling team this year.

Additional information - I'm a pretty big legacy, which I know Yale at least looks at somewhat because of the supplement. My great grandfather, grandfather, and dad all went to yale, as well as 2 of my older siblings. I also have a great uncle or something who made donations, but no significant donations by direct relatives.

I realize my grades are below par for Yale, but part of this can be attributed to a very competitive highschool which Yale has recognized on past admissions decisions. What I am nervous about is 2 other kids from my class of 50 kids also applied early. They both have 2400's and straight A's, but no significant legacies that I am aware of. I realize that theres nothing I can do now to affect my admissions, I'm just trying to pass the time til the 15th...

does anyone have any ideas? What I’m really worried about are the other two perfect kids applying from my class. Really hoping my legacy status will pull through on that one.

By the way, SAT breakdown goes 800 Math, 750 Crit, 800 Writing

Do Those two perfect kids have ECs that are better than yours, will your recs be better than theirs? Your extreme legacy will HELP and there is hope because there was one girl who got a 2370 but got denied while someone else from my school had a 2110 and got in. Both were unhooked.

your sats are fine enough you dont have to worry but how are the other students in your class??
and keep in mind legacy is REALLY important, especially in Yale. Goodluck!!

The other two kids also do a lot of EC’s, president of debate, head of MUN, etc etc. However neither of them are athletes and both just manage sports instead.

I just would be really surprised if yale accepted 6% of our class early when we usually have a lot more applicants who also apply to Yale in the regular round.

Sometimes Yale will take multiple students from the same school, in the same year, if they deem all of them sufficiently talented. I’m an international student and still I’ve seen it happen. At the end of the day, quality speaks above all. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best There’s no use in speculating right now because it won’t give you clear answers… Results come out on Tuesday. Best of luck :)

Um, question … if you have a 2350 SAT and “lots of EC’s”, what else can we say but:

“Crapshoot”
“Good, but not likely just like almost all other applicants”
“Reach”
“Good chance, but it’s Yale, so you never know …”
“Depends on the mood of the adcom that day…”

etc. etc.

*This was copied and pasted from another post I put in a different thread

I was more just wondering if anyone had any idea how much my legacy hook will help me. I realize that any response should be taken with a grain of salt but I’m just trying to pass the time before the admissions decision. Beats studying for midyears.
