Chance my background

I have a very unorthodox background, so I'm not quite sure if I'm at an advantage or disadvantage when applying to a top tier university.

I currently reside in one of the biggest cities in Arkansas. My parents are divorced. I live with my mom, and my 4 year old brother, and our income is below 40K (around 30K if rent is added). I will submit an application for Questbridge. My parents both got their college education in a foreign country, dad at an average one while mom and a horrible one. I am a first generation immigrant. I attend a private college prep school on a scholarship that sends about 1 kid a year to a top tier. I was born in the Czech Republic. I can also speak 4 languages fluently if that helps. But here's the twist, I am an Asian male.

Oh and since you can leave your race blank on college apps, should I just leave mine blank?

I don’t think being born here when your parents weren’t is any advantage. Also you are not first generation college student which is what they ask about. If you have an interesting life story you can talk about it in one of the essays if you like.

Your fluency in 4 languages is certainly an impressive accomplishment.

I wouldn’t avoid checking the race box, but it is optional. There is a place where you fill in your place of birth. I’m sure your unusual combination will be noted.
