Chance my Cousin please! Promise to chance back!

Hey guys!

My cousin wanted to know her chances of getting into a few schools given her scores and other qualifications.

She messed up her freshman year (compared to where she is now) but she has worked extremely hard and drastically brought up her GPA and work habits throughout High School. She is currently a junior at a pretty competitive school and her school only ranks the top 10% of the class. (there are 763 students in the class in total) Another note, the GPA is calculated by giving AP/IB courses a GPA out of 6.0 , Pre-AP/GT courses a GPA out of 5.5, and so on.

And finally pre med isn’t a major its a program.

Well its hard to tell without an unweighted GPA but the rest of your academic stats are definitely up to par for the top schools. Your ECs are great too so i think you definitely have a good chance at all of your schools, however, the ivys are still reaches due to their selectivity.

Your cousin seems like a great student!! Regardless of what school she goes to I’m sure she will do well! She has an amazing SAT score! She’s clearly worked hard.

UT Dallas - match
SMU - match/safety
UT Austin - match
Baylor - satefy
Rice - reach
UC Berkeley - reach
UC Los Angeles - reach
Stanford - reach
UPenn - reach
UChicago - reach
NYU - match
Penn State - safety
John Hopkins - low reach
Wash U (st.louis) - reach (esp. because she wants medical, it’s the most difficult major to be accepted to)
Northwestern - reach
Duke - reach
Dartmouth - reach

I know I put many of them as reaches but that doesn’t mean much because there’s other factors that I don’t know about. Maybe her personal statement will really resonate with readers and she will be accepted everywhere!

Good luck!
