D just became interested in Pomona. It is too late for an interview. Does she have a chance?

Yes, a very good one. I think if she's oos it may help. NOt sure if it's true but I think private institutions, especially in Cal, like oos kids. Nevertheless, she's in the top .5% in her class, has a great ACT score (which I would send in if they only require one) and good leadership ECs.

If you'd posted this three months ago I'd have said she has a good chance. At this point she's missed the Strongly Recommended interview, the Strongly Recommended visits, and the Recommended preliminary application. You may wish to address these oversights with supplemental materials, including an extremely well-written essay on why Pomona has become her school of choice. JMHO of course.

I think it will be tough given the lower than average SATs for Pomona and the lack of interview/demonstrated interest. It's worth a try though. I think they took >15% last year so it's gotten crazy. Would she consider Scripps? She would have a very good chance there and could take classes at Pomona.
